1  is the rio  wheelchair friendly for a main event player?
2 is the taxi wait really as bad as they say?
3  car hire in LV    WORTH PAYING ?
4 anyone comment on rooms re price/tandard etc.
5 iwhich is the best LV  hotel for 2 nights pure indulgence?(  for a couple)

1) Convention center is fully wheelchair accesible as is RIO.

2) Taxi wait shouldn't be that bad aside from exatly at the end of a days play for a big field tourney. If you time it properly it shouldn't be a concern. Additionaly if you are willing to tip a little bit to a RIO security geezer or Txi valet you should be able to jump any queue (Don' worry bout angry yanks, it's fairly accepted for disabled to get small preferences in these sorts of affairs)

3) Unless you plan on doing a LOT (and I do mean a LOT) of hopping about during every day, then I think sticking with taxis is prob better.

4) RIO price bit high but comfortable rooms. If your playing the ME or multiple events its fairly handy to be staog thee as it saves sleep time by saving travel e.t.c

Bellagio is V nice but expensive (unless you have an established gambling habit with them)

Most strip hotel will have V high quality rooms but the price is high.

If your just interested in a comfortable but not flashy place to sleep, The Gold COast (right next to the RIO) is decent and less expensive

5) Everything I've heard and seen is that The Venetian is the WINNA for absolute luxury
(This is where my friend spent a week with his GF after winning a WSOP event)
(of course you will pay $$$$$$$$$$$$)

Hope this helps

Happy HUnting!

Last year I enquired for the Bellagio and was quoted $250 ($300 ish for weekends) a night for a lake view room. Then Soxy told me that if you email the poker manager and tell them yuo are coming to play, you get teh poker rate $145 a night ($200 ish for weekends).
Result and it was fantastic. You dont have to prove you play there or anything, no problem.

I enquired at the Wynn for a poker rate and they had a similar rate but you had to commit to playing 6 hours a day in their card room ffs !!!

I will track down her email address and post it on here later if you like.

The wynn is a great hotel as is the Venetian. I like The Golden Nugget Downtown its just had a refit and looks fantastic, it is also very reasonable. I have a friend who works there so I can get you a good rate if you need it. Just pm me  Smiley

The taxi wait isn't that bad.

I was there for two weeks prior to main event last year. At various times of the day and night, we never had to wait longer than 15 minutes for a cab.

I found that email address
Collette Hickey is the Poker Manager and her email is chickey@bellagioresort.com
The rate she gave me last year was $149 Sun - Thurs and $219 Fri & Sat. This was about $100 cheaper per night than normal booking and makes the Bellagio fantastic value.

You just need to tell her you are coming to play poker in their card room, there is no requirment to prove hours of play etc.

Others may find this useful.

At current exchange rates, the $149 makes staying at the Bellagio cheaper than staying at the Premier Travel Inn down the road from me.

Bargain.

Eck, we  stayed at The Hotel @ Mandalay Bay last time we were in Vegas. Rooms all suite and massive, plasma in every room(even the bathroom lol). Plus you can use all the facilities of Mandalay Bay AND is right next to their poker room/sportsbook and the shopping mall. I'd  definatley recommend it.
