Will lessons be learnt?

I was seriously considering playing the EPT event at the Vic in 12 days time. As a one off...I've saved up part of some winnings and I have no incidental expenses so why not? or so I thought
However events in Barcelona, and before that at the Paris WPT, have made me think twice
Most of this is discussed in the live update from the event but to reiterate:
a) The structure was brutal. At one stage on the second day 27 players became 10 or so in under an hour as desperate players lumped it in with Q9 versus K7 for example...a complete crapshoot
b) This followed the Paris WPT event where 90 minute levels became 60 minute levels became 30 minute levels
c) The "random" table draw produced a TV table with EPT and WPT winners only. Quelle Surprise!
d) Playing Conditions were described as cramped and unacceptable
Whilst I accept it might be different at the Vic, what comfort do I have?
If I'm going to fork over £3000, why am I going to do it for a potential crapshoot?
Surely organisers need to quickly add extra days (these numbers of players mean a three day event not a two day event? surely?)
Why do those who regularly play these put up with it?
Your thoughts please

They changed the structure in a comp I played once and it totally threw me, I've been leery of the venue ever since

Red, you mean the Vic changed the structure on you?

No, it wasnt the Vic, I slagged them off at the time so Im not going to open an old sore, I was just making the point that its totally unfair to pay your money expecting one thing and then get something else entirely

Thx Red, I understand the point now.
I too played in a few comps, on these occasions whole blind levels were removed, renders completely useless any strategies you might have been following and would have changed previous plays
Hated it

Slightly off topic, this is where I think poker will benefit from coming away from casinos and into clubs like Yongsta is trying to set up. Organised by poker players for poker players.
As poker continues to boom and the tv companies jump on board though, I fear less regard for players. I get angry when a £5 rebuy goes to rat shit. If I paid £3k and they changed the structure I'd be arrested.

I can't believe it was more chaotic than the NECS.
Mind you have heard the NECS champion is now favourite for the WSOP $10k PLO event

Funny thing is it seems there was more play in the Pokerstars satellites into the event than the actual event itself!!

Think you are forgetting the greatest poker player in the world ( he has a NECS trophy to prove it) has his own website come Thursday. Not any website, oh no a website edited by the Gary Bushell of Poker Ariston. By January Mercedes, Rolex, Toshiba and Pound Stretcher will have agreed to pay 'The Man' into every event at the WPT, EPT, WOP & P4C. Bet against it at your peril!!!!!

I wrote something about the structure before the event in Barcelona even started
How can a 4000 euro event have a 45 min clock?
The Vic last year was a 45 min clock. Very much like Barcelona......
Why isn't their a standard strcucture for all these EPT events as they have the same buy in?
Deauville was brilliant - 75 min clock... they should all be like that.
