No need to wait for a re-run, I will summarise for you.

Sikh gent decides to have a gamble with 7k ...so he has a little punt on the dogs, a little punt on the hores, roulette etc... then he gets into the proper side of gambling and walks into a swimming pool fully clothed (including turban) for a bet, then plays a bloke who had breast implants (for a bet) at table tennis .... not sure how much he had left at the end of the programme because I had long lost the will to live by then.

Apparantly the next show has footage of a Rob Yong home game ... lets hope the narrative does it justice.

Your only jealous because the bloke make $300k out of he's breast implants, surely you can make more Kev because yours are natural.  Grin

he's have to..He's invested 300k$ just to get them looking like that..Pie money all of it Smiley

damn my bet is void

2nd break and he has lost a monkey at the dogs and horses

tsk tsk tsk - very irresponsible, how on earth do you lose a monkey - surely he kept him on a leash if he knew he would be surrounded by other animals??

Although on reflection there are probably 4696 members who'd like to lose a monkey on blonde!!

I've not checked the death clock to start with.........

are you suggesting that the figure of 4 years 11 months and 4 days is inaccurate and that it is more imminent?

Im sorry, but what an absolutely awful programme. Im sure anyone who has never had a bet may be interested, but it is condescending and patronising. bad choice of presenter IMO.

Robbie Box in "Big Deal" was a better advertisement for a gambler.

Poor, poor, poor.

I completely disagree. I thought it ws an entertaining and well put together show. Neither condescending nor patronising and I think Hardeep Singh Kohli was a good choice of presenter. I particularly liked the emotion he showed when his bets won or lost, which was quite engaging.  Trying to bargain with Esfandiari over the terms of his jump in the swimming pool bet and complaining when he was hustled at table tennis showed that it was a true learning curve for him and highlighted the more colourful side of gambling.

Did you really think it was that poor a show or did you decide that during the first 10 mins of it then stick to your opinion?

Yes Jon I really did think it was poor, I tried to see it from a casual viewers point of view ... And all i could think was people watching and saying god, all gamblers must be right idiots.

No mention of studying form for horses or dogs, no mention of hours spent scouring results and keeping records and notes of "eyecatching" dogs or horses.... No mention of bankroll management, No mention of any costs involved such as flights and hotel in vegas , entry to race meets etc, all stuff that a gambler has to factor in to his profit and loss calculations
No, we get fully clothed pool jumping and a table tennis game versus a bloke with norks.

FFS someone make a fking programme about gamblers that show them to be more than a joke.

I would say that all that stuff would be more suitable for an entirely different type of porgramme. The purpose of this show was to entertain, not to descend into a grumbling bad beat story about the cost of living expenses for gamblers.  The purpose of this show was to show that gambling, in it's various forms is now an integral part of the leisure industry. An in depth discussion on reading form and bankroll management would have absilutely no relevance to the casual viewer at all. In terms of its audience and trying to show the fun side of gambling, it succeeded, but also presented some balance by discussing the other side of the equation - that the majority of people gambling lose and that the fantasy that is Las Vegas was built with money that gamblers lost. 'Gambling is fun, but be careful' was the overiding message of this programme.

I would not say that it painted gamblers out to be idiots. You may perceive Hardeep as an idiot, I percieve him as self depricating comedian and quite endearing in this respect. In this show Hardeep was the outsider having a go at gambling, not a fully fledged member of the gambling community. As far as making gambling people out to be idiots, John McCrirrick does a much better job of this every weekend.

Perhaps you are right in that i was expecting something a bit different which made me hate the show even more.

With all the bad press poker and gambling gets in the media, surely its about time someone made a programme which shows the positive side... hell, give me a budget and a fkin camera and i will do it myself !! Wink

Kev

Did you see the dispatches programme on Monday?

That's what I call negative, with a reporter deciding on an agenda and looking for evidence however contrived to support this and completely ignoring evidence to the contrary.

In contrast last night's programme although in a style that some might not like was generally neutral.

You shouldn't need a budget - if you were a good gambler then it would finance itself!! Wink
