Playing a tourney which pays 36 places, there are 40 left in, blinds are 2k/4k 300. Average stack 45k+

You have 28k back having already posted the 4k big blind holding three clubs

UTG+1 goes allin, all fold to you. There is 22k in the pot and it is 10k to call.

Do you call because of pot odds and the fact that you will still have a just about playable 18k if you lose ?

Or do you fold and wait for a better spot ?

Assuming it's a full table UTG+1 will only do this with a tight range, any PP and you are in trouble.

So for me a pass and nick the blind back in position.

Odds do suggest a call, but I'd fold.  It's too many chips to call for such a crappy hand with your current chip stack.  If you were on 60k or so, I'd call.

yeah...having said that though..UTG+1 pushed for 12k if I do the math correctly. (18k in the pot..BB + SB make up 6k of this) so UTG+1 has a very big range considering he's about to get blinded away for half his stack. He can (and should) push with any two face cards.

Depending on how he became so short stacked I reckon you could call here. If he has been a rock uptill now then I'd fold. If he just took a beat a couple of hands ago you could call this as you're likely to have 2 live cards and plenty of outs pre-flop.

what size are the other smaller stack on the other table?

If there are few that are much smaller then you then why risk your stack?

Pushing is better then calling...   it depends also who is to your left and can you steal the blinds  nxt few hands

Even flushy would fold here.
The best way to get chips around the bubble is NOT to call every allin it's to pressure the blinds and the raisers.
James is an expert at this (though i shouldn't say it out loud).

   insta call for me
Logged

The very last hand of the night goes to Dewi James, who finds ACES and talks Raymond O’Mahoney into calling his all-in preflop bet of 15k.  “If I had AQ, I’d call!” says Dewi.  Raymond calls holding pocket 66’s.

I did actually call after a little thought, and having picked up a flush draw on the turn, missed and lost to his AQ.

My thinking was that he was desperate (blinds and antes were 9k per round) and he could have almost anything.
And getting almost 9/4 for the 10k that I had to pay to call proved irrisistable, given that I would still have a
semi-playable stack with a decent chance of still cashing should I lose, and I would be above average if I had won
with a fair chance of winning or going very deep.

I did cash, came 30th for minor money, but I still think the call/pass was a marginal decision.

Although I do take on board Flushy's point about 10k costing me dearly in folding equity, I am not sure what I would
do if faced with the same dilemma.
