End of Over 47: 298-8, runrate=6.34, reqrunrate=4.33 (310-8)
Burns 9-0-46-3
Cresswell* 9 (3 balls)
Monkhouse 74 (73 balls)

Last Wicket: Sidwell c. Hatred b. Burns 10 (FOW: 289/8)

46.6 1 Burns to Cresswell
Tip and run to Stanley in the covers. He was a bit slow onto that and the batsmen were well home before his throw came in.
46.5 4 Burns to Cresswell
This time he managed to steer it past a diving extra cover.
46.4 4 Burns to Cresswell
Nice shot, they'll get three here…oh terrible throw to Hatred and they'll run an extra one.
46.3 W Burns to Sidwell
OUT! Sidwell has top edged the sweep and Hatred has made a great reaction catch.
46.2 . Burns to Sidwell
This one's going down leg side so Sidwell lifts his bat in the air and lets the ball rap him on the pads.
46.1 . Burns to Sidwell
Fullish ball outside off stump, leans well forward, shouldering arms through to Hatred.

The over started off so well - two dots then a wicket but then the new batsman smashes 9 in first 3 balls Sad

they need 14 to win off 3 overs with 2 wickets remaining

I'd wait and see before expanding your ground - if you're not winning less people will show up and you do have the extra maintenance costs too.

And that's the end of the match. Ruswarp Ponies won by 70 runs.
Ruswarp Ponies   323-7
whitkirk   253-10

My wickie/bowler went for 75 runs, tho he did manage a wicket, I'm lucky I didn't make that mistake in a more even contest.

I'm happy with the performance, all the new boys made valuable contributions and the old reliables also did the business.

My gate is well down on what I was getting at the backend of last season. £35k vs £55k. I'm not going to be able to spend any dosh for a while, I had assumed I'd clear my overdraft with 2 home fixtures, but that's not going to happen now.

Nice win!

The lower gates are due to the supporters confidence being reset - they'll go up if you start winning!

The attendances need sorting out!

Last season I only had one home game in division VI after I signed up.  At the time I had a 4-0-8 record in the league (most of it achieved via my predecessor) and got 4,450 watching.

Today, after getting promoted via the play-offs, my first game in Division V gets a crowd of 3,713.

Even Barnsley FC's fans wouldn't be that fickle at the start of a new season!

It will have been reset when you took over so your wins would have upped it and got more people in...

My first game in Div 5, i managed a respecatable 292-5 on a flat wicket.
Unfortunately my opponents scored 294-6 in 49.5 overs.

So near, yet so far.
