What's the rules on giving away your hand?

I was playing an MTT tonight ($20 rebuy)

we were down to the last 40 or so

and a guy on about 5000 went all in

The chip leader who had about 60,000 flat called

I had already folded when another player who was on about 25,000 went all in but before doing this he typed in the chat box "American Airlines" and something along the lines of "I suggest you fold" aimed at the chip leader.

The chip leader did indeed fold and the guy turned over AA and knocked out the other guy with the small stack.

Chip leader said thanks in the chat box and that he had QQ and the guy with AA said he didn't want to risk being outdrawn by the bigger stack and put out the Tourney.

Not only do I think this is out of order but I think it is totally stupid on his part. He's going to have to go up against a bigger stack at some stage in the MTT so whet better time to do it than when you have AA!

He later did something else when I was Big blind and he was small blind.

There was one limper and then he dwelled up and typed in the chatbox "Hmmmmmmm 65 ?? " before folding.

I had some rubbish like Q3 and just checked but the flop came 6 6 rag.

So this muppet has now announced that a 6 has already been folded!!

I've "flashed" one of my hole crds now & then recently when on a friendly table in Live Poker just to scare away the oppos, & have a bit of fun.  I had K-4, the flop came K high, I flashed the damn 4. I got called.

TY. Is it in the spirit of the game to flash your hand mid hand. The guy had done it before on other tables whilst others were still to act. Thats not in the spirit of the game.

There are 2 separate issues. One is revealing your hand, and personally I don't think it's that big a deal. You could be lying (this is what made Gold his chips, he wasn't lying most of the time, or Nguyen 'You call it's all over baby', as good as announcing a holding, but reverse bluffing also), or the Unabomber, flipping over an Ace to represent the flush on a draw. It's a grey area but I think it would be allowed, if it weren't for situations like the one you describe and players do not have the discretion to know when it is more than just declaring a holding, for very subtle reasons:
Second issue: it's pretty much collusion here. Big stacks don't want to knock each other out, but do want to knock out the little guy. By revealing AA he helps the other big stack to step aside, but the little guy may have no choice in believing it or not given his stack size. So sometimes you could do it, but not here. People can't discern, so you have to have a blanket ban. The short stack should get his buy-in back.

after slowrolling this is my biggest "peev" in poker. I will always refer people to the online rulebook after they do it for a first time and ask them not to do it again (its rule 16 in pokerstars tournament rules). If they continue then i report it because to me its collusion which is cheating.
