would it not have been better to use the term "withdrawn bid" rather than "pull out" given the name of the company? Wink

how to mess up one of the countries biggest clubs? By not accepting an offer from probably the best people that could possibly make one.

Well done to the board.

 Shocked

Not happy...hope there's a bloody good reason that it's not gone ahead.  I can't see Moores doing anything against the interest of the club though.

I'm hoping it's wedding day jitters, and it still goes through.

it diodn't go ahead because an American also wanted to put in a bid and they were "considering "that. From my experience once the Maktoums say No Deal. it means No Deal.

Moores had to go 'consider' other legitimate bids as other shareholders have to be considered.  Of course, we don't know the full story - but if Sheikh Mo really wanted to invest and buy Liverpool Football Club, why let the current owners' decision-making process turn you off to such a degree.  Isn't that a bit like cutting off your nose to spite your face?

Because a deal was made. A Gentlemans arrangement or "Deal in principle" whatever you want to call it. You don't reneg on those. for sheik Mohammed this is a principle issue. The same sort of problem arose between them and the Coolmoore stud (horseracing) they now will not buy any horses or services from Coolmoore anymore.

I really think the board messed up here, unfortunatly, and can not see Sheikh Mohammed come back to Liverpool.

I understand why he'd be annoyed.  But they're not 'part of the deal'.  If it's Liverpool Football Club he's interested in, should their 'antics' get in the way of what he wants?  If they turned round and said he'd have to pay double, or he'd have to do this or that, then yes - I can understand him pulling out.

Without knowing more, it doesn't make sense at all.

If Moores was in agreement "in principle" then, as a fan, I'd be annoyed with the other shareholders for this.
