Try and use Tab as a very last resort for passages too difficult to work out yourself.
There's no substitute for having a well tuned ear. jam along with your favourite music and keep trying stuff till you find what matches. over time your experience bank builds up and it becomes easier to work stuuff out.
Also, learn your theory and scales. when you know how they work it becomes less of a puzzle. The first two of three chords tell you pretty much how the rest of the song will work when you know your theory.

What are you trying to work out?

Thanks Adam. I'm very much a beginner. Just wanted to find the fingering for hotel calilfornia.

I just mess about playing little bits, i think i need to sort myself out with a teacher if I'm going to progress properly!
