St Valentines Day, Christmas, Easter, Mothering Sunday are all milked to death by marketing firms. Everyone but Jif lemon juice seems to leave this one largely alone.

It's Shrove Tuesday, the last day before lent begins.
Lent is the 40 days prior to Easter, a time traditionally associated with fasting. Giving up cigarettes, alcohol and roller-blading.
So Shrove Tueday was your last chance to get in all the stuff you were about to deprive yourself of. It all has something to do with Jesus spending a few weeks in the desert with no nintendo.

Never mind all that, to you and me, it's pancake day!!!

I'm off to the market soon, to get myself the relevant ingredients.

Looking on google first, for some top pancake tips. Anyone on blonde wanna share their's?

So will you be giving up poker then for this period or will you be living in sin?

I'll be giving up pancakes.

Unless I have some left over batter.

Lemons are rubbish, they make everything taste like you haven't rinsed all the soap off the plate. Maple syrup is what you want.

Lazy Lazy Lazy

Thank gawd for that - Morrisons here I come!

My excuse, (and I'm sticking to it), is that I have made the damned things every year since leaving home, and I've had enough - 15 years of pancake making - bleurgh!!!

I noticed in Tescos last night that they have got cartons of pancake batter for the terminally lazy/stupid who can't mix milk flour and eggs.

Also sweet stuff on pancakes is WRONG - butter and crisp streaky bacon is the mutt's nuts!!!
