Here's an interesting one.

My plan on the flop was to check raise all in on a semi bluff, representing a set (or i might even be ahead:- any thoughts on weather this would have ben a good play?). But someone got their chips in first.

I can't see how this ever a pass, most of the time you are ahead, when you are behind you have outs.

49 in the pot. he only had 87 back so figured he couldn't play the pot properly. got a decent chunk of it obviously and saw a push as the only option. he could have any sort of thing. you have to call. the very best he could have is trips and you've got some outs if he does.

thanks for the advice guys. I did call in the end. I was thinking that with 4 players taking the flop, that there was a good chance of 1010+ being out there, but I figured that even if i was behind I still had plently of outs. Also, I felt the big overbet could be a draw looking to take it down there and then. Anyway, here's how it panned out:

DTrain27 bets (87.50) and is all-in
ImJustAFish folds
HautCuisine folds
TwistOfFate calls (87.50)
TwistOfFate is refunded (0)
turn: []
river: []
TwistOfFate shows [ ] for two pair, nines and sixes
DTrain27 mucks
TwistOfFate wins (219)

I would have liked to know what he had, but you can't find out on mansion.

I would guess he may have had the 78 here with the river 6 giving you two better pairs. That fits the betting.
