Depending on various opportunities that may or may not happen in the next few months I may end up having 3-6 months off work to sort my life out and have a bit of fun. For those who have travelled around, where in the world would you go to play some poker, have some fun and relax. I've been to Vegas plenty of times, so I guess I'm just trying to find out if Vegas really is the best bet or is there somewhere else that could be worth investigating.

I went to Barcelona a few months ago and the 20/40 fixed limit game is full of total donks so this is one option. All suggestions welcome and why please, or is Vegas unmatchable?

Thanks

I'm told gibraltar (of all places) has a nice poker scene these days..loads of STT's and MTT's in the pubs and of course `cash games afterwards..and not expensive to stay

That's no way to speak about Boldie!

Woodsey in answer to your question in terms of poker there is no way you can beat Vegas.

If you want to have fun and relax and also play online then your options are endless

I was speaking to a Las Vegas based pro and he said the best poker action was in Los Angeles at the Commerce and Bike.  I find Vegas a bit too much OTT and after a couple of weeks it becomes quite tiresome.

I have the same problem with Vegas actually, much more than a week there and I've had enough TBH. I've thought about LA, but the casinos are in the worst bits of town, I'm not sure I fancy that if I'm on my own. Having said that I could do a bit of flying over there and be within easy reach of both.

Anyone been to Melbourne? Or is there a scene in South Africa anyone knows of?

Melbournes poker room is as big as anywhere in vegas and players seem to think they are better than what they are. Always plenty of action

If i had a few months off and playing live poker was a priority i'd head there.

Great food, great standard of living. Plenty of top quality sporting action year round. Near Danni Minogue (unless she lives in the UK, which she probably does). All good

Have you thought about Spain, you could startat the top and work your way down. The main plus for this is the cost of living an.d the size of games needed to cover your costs.you can find lots of short term apts  booze and cigs cheap very good weather so you are not always under the cosh to find your costs every day.If you do not have to find car hire and hotel bills every week you can have a very pleasant 6 months with no stress.New rooms are opening there all the time so if you are adaptable and can play most games at a reasonable level you should be OK and if things run bad yuo can always pop into barca to build the float back up.     I am beginning to sound like the Spanish tourist board sorry....
