The brochures all say ""VIC Main Event sponsored by Poker Star.com ".

What does that mean? Are they supporting the event in any financial way? Not that I know of. And then they shouldnt be allowed to put their name next to it IMO. Any thoughts?

they are the sponsors of the EPT and the main event is an EPT event the money that stars puts up goes to the EPT what they do with it is use it to make tv coverage as the tv companies dont put pay to produce poker

While your answer certainly states the facts correctly, I just see this as yet another bad deal (or actually non-deal) for the players themselves.
EPT Barcelona: Biggest joke ever

Also played a televised heat of the "World Speed Poker Open" on sunday that also featured bracelet winner Willie Tann. Blind structure=horrible, hospitality=non existent, yet they demanded all kinds of questionaires, interviews etc. to support the event and make it a quality TV product, which was named "Party Poker.co.uk heat" and "sponsored by Party Poker".

IMO everyone bar the players is profitting big time from the (TV) poker boom, yet players keep getting treated like s**t. Positive exceptions were "London Poker Open" and the Betfair heats of the "British Poker Open" which were smoothly run and had solid hospitality for the players and their families/friends.

I could be wrong but I think that the €10,000 seat to the EPT Final is paid for by Pokerstars as well as the TV production. As far as how they treat their players - I have been to two events (one EPT & one WPT) and they could not have treated all of us any better. Free meals & drink plus the usual promo gunk.

I had an even more bizarre converation with the Speed Poker peeps, after they invited me to play. I said the clock is too fast for £2k, the girlie said "it's supposed to be, it's Speed Poker"... I said, "no, I am not talking about decision making time, I'm talking about the structure", but I am afraid it was a whoosh job.....

speed poker doesnt need to have a horrid structure infact because there is no dwelling (was carlo invited) the structure should lead to more and better play rather than a crapshoot

No - they got 15 second to make a DECISION. But the "clock" was 15 minutes - awful.

no speed poker means you get a certain time to make your play (i think its 15 seconds) clock is faster than a normal comp but you should still get more hands per level than you would on a 45 minute clock in the vic,

15 minutes is short it should be atleast 25 mins if not 30 mins but the clock doesnt make much difference if the blind structure is GOLD which sadly most comps there more COAL
