Playing in last evenings $20 NL Hold'Em tournament on Stars I'd buiilt my stack up to around 17k and was sitting in around 25th position when I get dealt 2-2 on the button. Blinds were 200/400.

The play was passed around to me and not wishing to give the blinds a cheap ride I raised to 2000. The SB folded, the BB called.

The flop brought a nice looking J-6-2 and I once the BB checked I contemplated my move.

With over 4k in the middle already I thought I'd get it over and done with and bet 10k knowing that unless the BB had caught a Jack I'd pick up the pot there and then. If he HAD caught a Jack I might get paid off!

My 10k bet appeared on the table then suddenly...my connection went!!

It took me over 5 minutes to get back on the table to find that my stack was now at 5k!! Not only had the guy CALLED my $10k bet I'd then been FOLDED after the turn card because I'd timed out!

My $60 investment had been ruined by my ISP deciding to chop my line at that precise moment!

I was out a few hands later when my 10-10 all-in bet was called by a player holding 3-3 and he hit quads!

BAH!!!!

Fair enough everyone, maybe I was a bit harsh. I've got a stinking cold at the moment and maybe it's making me a bit grumpy.

I've deleted my comment.

yep that happens to me a fair bit but not due to ISP.... i have broadband and use a wireless connection which always seems to try to 'acquire a new network address' right in the middle of key hands.  i've got SP2 and tried buying new wireless cards but neither seem to work... my flatmate is an IT geek and still i can't fix the problem... with the router in his bedroom we now have an ugly wire running across the hall floor every time i'm playing!

Any help much appreciated by anyone with a solution!!  i know a fair few people here use wireless connections so what the hell am i doing wrong?!?!  Undecided

ive had it happen to me i had about 4k in a tourney ave was about 7.5k blinds i think were 150/300 i raised to 1200 with KK and then got dissconected i got back in and asked the guy what won the hand he said Ace high  Angry.
also i played the ntx on crypto 1 night and the first hand i was dealt 33 i was on the cutoff and there was no raise so i was going to limp in but none of my buttons would work. the flop came 737 arrrrrrrggggggggghhhhh 2 guys in the pot played it out and both went all in, the one guy had A7 the other the nut flush, i would of trebled through 1st had of the tourney, what made it worse is when i got back in and the buttons worked the guy who doubled through, who would already be out knocked me out Angry Angry

You could try a MIMO wireless router & netwrok adaptor - this uses more than 1 aerial & constantly shifts load to the one with the best reception. Linksys doa  good one for about £100.

I seem to remember an article about wireless reception problems & ways to fix them in this month's What Laptop magazine as wel.

If it's linksys this is a known problem, you need to download a patch from their site to fix it, i had the same problems and this fixed it!!

Used to happen to me all the time and it is possibly the most infuriating thing ever. Watching the nuts just sitting there knowing when you get reconnected it's gone along with your money/chips.

Draw attention to the thread regarding some railbirding of the red-dog where HU on the final table and his opponent got disconnected. Red folded and waited for his opponent to reconnect and then went on to beat him form a substantial chip deficit. How many others would have done that? true gent.

Mark how is the broadband situation for you in Eire? I have a friend who is having real problems getting on over there, but if youi can - you need a good dsl line, and that wil minimise those problems.

This hasn't happened to me, BUT my pc is a bit old. Sometimes when I have been running two sites for a while it slows down dramatically, and it can get so bad as to take so long to show the deal, that I have timed out before I can look at my hand, and then I am set as away, and can't catch up, so I have to restart and hope that I can clear it.

This happens with WH and Laddies, but strangely not with Betfair. I have a rock solid 2meg dsl line that is shared on a wired connection.

I tend to restart my pc on breaks. I need a new puter, and I also need a wireless connectiona nd lappy for when I am in Acton.

I also need a lottery win by the sounds of it Smiley
