"Ice melts, Blood boils, a rock doesn't move but give me a tub of crazy glue and I'll show you how to live"
Either the guy's a complete idiot or he's evolved to a higher level and we just can understand him from this far down the evolutionary ladder. I favour the latter
Genius.
Come on Tikay more of this on 425

Correct, we are all agreed on THAT then........
But the oddity here is that when you meet Jesse, he seems, appears, acts & talks like a normal person. Nice suit, smart haircut, has all the correct social graces, a proper bloke. But then he starts that different planet stuff, & everybody stands by open-mouthed.
But there is more, & many of you may not realise this. If he gets x out of 10 as a TV commentator, you ought to try READING his stuff - now his rating goes off the upper end of the scale. He is far & away the best poker reporter at work today.
I said to Rolandinho in Copenhagen - wrote it in fact - that Jesse May, as a writer, is right up there in the (late) Andy Glazer class. I was mocked for my view, but when I said "but have you read any of his stuff" the answer was "no, but NOBODY could be as good as Andy". Well folks, try reading some of Jesse's stuff, Tournament Reports & the like. Give yourself a treat, as they say.

Just read this on the poker channel website.
"Anyone who doesn't realize that now is the time for poker must be sitting tight like a cat on a ledge with their secondhand permanently stuck on the number one. Poker today is like a locomotive, hurtling down the track.
But who's the engineer on the train, and more importantly, does the driver need a steering wheel?"
Jesse May at his very best.

Typical Jesse. And take away the rhetoric, & there is an underlying message. His final sentence is very apposite.
We dont have an engineer, & we DO need a steering wheel. Until & unless Poker gets a proper governing body, with a standard set of rules, and a means of collectively organising & bargaining for TV events, & some sort of ordered structure to the annual schedule, then heaven knows where it may end up. But don't start me off on that, that is my #1 hobby horse, & I shall go on for ever.........Just hope & pray I never find myself with an hour of writing time to spare, because if I write the piece I have in mind for this subject, it would blow your socks off. Poker, given it's enormous size, is getting into a helluva mess, & unless it gets itself organised structurally, with a proper, well-funded, governing body, the wheels will come off. Nothing is more certain that THAT. Trust me.
So sticking to the subject, Jesse IS the man. You better beleve it. And I am sorry Adam, but you won't get any of that crazy glue stuff from tikay on Poker 425. We are what we are, and I can't strut that sort of stuff I am afraid. All I aspire to be is myself, & if that ain't good enough, I shall be down the road I guess!

Don't YOU start. I have enough of the "it's been emotional" thing from Stu Fox.

Sorry to be the odd man out here, but I don't like Jesse's commentary style at all. If 'the voice of poker' is commentating the mute button is my only defence. In his favour I have to say I don't know many people who play poker who don't have either a good or a bad opinion of him. You don't sit on the fence with Jesse May. Dubai Millenium, you are an ugly dead horse. You looked much better when you were alive!

I guess it's very much the same as the Sid Waddell argument - love him or loathe him.

If that's a dig at where jesse might have got his style from - I agree - but he's obviously talented. I've now read some of his old columns and I particularly like his masking ability - how he makes a serious point without u realising it until you've stopped smiling along with how it was made.

The jury may be divided on his TV commentaries, which are done the way they are for a reason. But try & catch his writing - it's the absolute nuts!
