This was my last hand of the same game.  The previous hand crippled me.  After losing a few more blinds, I'd managed to double up to these giddy heights, but the ave stack was now well over 6000.

I thought if I pushed preflop I'd get too many callers.  I was working on the idea that only a 6 could call post flop.

Bob hope.

But was I too impatient, should I just have waited for the button or cut off & pushed with any two cards ?

You should have pushed this hand.

Only a 6 could call postflop and did. (not really true that reasoning but OK)

I don't get the push. If you had pushed pre-flop..ok great!. But to push on this flop? Who's going to take you for a 6?  I dare say noone.
So what are you hoping to scare off? I think if the BB hadn't pushed all in over the top of you.(STRANGE PLAY btw).or had folded (assuming he didn't have the 6) you would have recieved a call from someone with a ten or pocket pair over that (as unlikely as they are to be in the pot with this pre-flop action). If I had K10 or something like that in late position I would have called you if the others had folded as I would have known I would probably be ahead after you pushing ilke that.

If you don't connect with the flop why not fold it? You've got a full round to get other peoples chips.

A bit too impatient for me, my friend.

You have a fair amount of chips to do some damage with so you can push the next 4 hands and people will think twice about calling you (even though on the 3rd and 4th time they will know for sure you're at it). Any unraised pot in position you can push into with any two cards. And an extra 1k is easily picked up like that.

A bit too impatient for me, my friend.

I think this is the long and the short of it.  After losing the JJ & a couple of blinds I was down to 885 at my lowest, & I just saw every round with 3 or more people seeing the flop.  There just wasn't a round that reached me in late ( even lateish ) position where I could be first to enter the pot.

The fact that before the break I knew where I stood was the killer.  By now I was just stumbling around, part of me was saying 10x BB is playable, but the other side of me saw the ave stack going up 4000, 5000, 6000.

I managed one good double up, but was still shorty on the table & 40th out of 44 still in.  I  just  saw the 1200 in the middle & got greedy.  I was hoping you were going to say it was a marvellously subtle play, too subtle for those damned Scandies to understand.

But in my heart I knew it was a crap move, I was just praying that I was better than I thought I was.

Just do it pre flop. Any 2 cards is a justifiable push there.
