The hypnotist is Christian Baker - his web site is www.northamptonhypnotherapy.co.uk
I have to admit an interest only because he rents space from me at my clinic but as I don't make any money from any clients he gets I have some impartiality!

he spent a lot of time finding out what I needed, interestingly it isn't poker related as such, no one can hypnotise you to play poker better but they can make you improve behaviours that will help your game (if that makes sense).

for focus you would only raelly need one session, is this person a hypnotherypist, or a neuro lingustic programer/ life coach.

I would like to try some stuff over msn with some willing victims............er subjects.

I'm up for some of that, but not just now.  If you're still offering another day, I'd be interested to give it a go Smiley

I think there's a lot more to it than that - it's not just one element. I've also worked on memory (for hands, tells etc) as well as how to store info in my brain so I find it easy to retrieve. Also worked a lot on visualisation and using various triggers to promote certain emotions as well as how to gather informationin a way thats easy for me.

Does something like this improve your online game do you think?  I can see how it would help live but not so sure about online.  I guess if it focuses the mind then it could help.

so dingell he spent alot of time getting you to actually look and question why you don't focus etc and got you to look at ways that you feel could help yo7u, this is the coaching side ,(my wife is a specialist in this).

Although you cant hypnotise someone to play poker better as such, you can if the better poker is there but not being played if you follow me??

Did he actually use an induction, intrested to find out, did he talk you down, get you to walk a journey, or did he play a game over and rewind it view it from outside the game ?

Interesting dingell, its sounds like life coaching methods, they are very effective, stick with it, do you find yourself applying this to more than poker?

I wish I could tell you but I was so relaxed that a lot of the time I wasn't focussing on what he was saying and also as I'm no expert it's difficult for me to comment on the methods he used. However as I'm playing I realise I am doing things without realising, a certain type of breathing, posture etc that was not automatic or natural for me. I've had a few lightbulb moments when it's come back to me even though I don't remember it going in in the first place.

Definitely better for live games for me but everyone is different. Still proof is in the pudding......always difficult to jusge though!

I have used some of the breathing during a very stressful experience I am going through at the moment and I'm still holding my head high so it must be working

i start my qualifications in Hypnotherpy in june and will take me 18 months with 110 hrs of clinical practice min a year.

I find the hypnotising people to concentrate for poker / get in the zone an interesting subject, i think that the results would be slightly poor unless the therypist understood what and how you need to focus and what on for poker.

yeah, great point, difficult to find people who know a lot about poker and a lot about hypno/psych techniques.
I've noticed some poker players selling their services on Ebay. Anything that builds the bankroll, I suppose. Bet most of them are rubbish.

personally I have always played better in comfortable shoes.........though I did use a hypno therapist to give up smoking with excellent results. I also still use a cd for relaxation purposes when I am slightly less horizontal than I want to be. Thirdly I can auto deep relax/self hypnotise which I find very useful in long tourneys as a form of letting go and power napping............anything that makes you feel good about your game is worth the investment as  the fine line between winning and losing tends to be in the head

Well done Dingbell, I'm glad this has been so successful for you.

I agree with mex. One session is probably all that was required - job done.
