I quit trying to be a rockstar at the end of 2005 after 15-20 years of missed opportunities and close calls. I was trying to be a rockstar, Pro poker player, business entrepreneur, Martial Arts Instructor, husband and father all at once. half the list had to go and rockstar was one of them.

The Drummer from my last band (who, like the singer is much younger than me, now 20) is off to join the army at the end of the month. He's having a party to celebrate and the band is doing an hour long one off reunion set.

I used to get up and play every week without too much nerves but its been 18 months and I don'tmind admitting...

I'm sure I'll remember it all. Does very much draw a line under my youth though, and that's what scares me most.

Good luck.   It is a strange feeling when a dream doesn't come true. I wanted to be a racing driver since I was eight years old  Cheesy  .  I think it is impossible to completely let go of any dream, I still day dream about driving in the NASCAR series or racing wheel to wheel with Plato at Knockhill  Cheesy .

Good luck with your concert.  Do you still dream about being a rock star or is it completely extinguished?

went really well. nailed every song, hit every note, at least I think so. I'd had 5 Buds before I went on and took two on stage with me. felt pretty good anyway. I'm told the guitar faces were vintage.

a few people were saying they couldn't believe we were walking away. I can't see a record company picking up a 34 year old rock guitarist. not a lot of shelf life. the other main reason is that as a teenager / twentysomething touring the world with a rock band is a dream. Now, the thought of being away from my wife and kids for 9 months out of 12 is a nightmare.

Plan is that me and the Singer are going to continue to work together. We're going to set up a new band and put the perfect set of 40 covers together (survey thread coming soon). Everyone a dance floor filler. I'll also start work on new own material for the singer (who's only 21) to use in a new band if he still wants to go for it.

The set was filmed last night and apparently the quality is pretty good. I might pop some highlights on youtube when I get a copy.
