Here’s a few teasers for anyone who’s bored or as sad as I am. (will take a lot to match the latter)  Embarrassed

They’re not easy, but all poker players like a challenge… don’t they?  Undecided

(i)   Which musical act spent the most weeks in the uk top 20 during the 80s?

(ii)   Who sings backing vocals on (a) Dire Strait’s ‘Money for Nothing’(b) Carly Simon’s ‘You’re So Vain’ (c) The Eurythmics’ ‘Love Is A Stranger’? (3 separate answers/artists)

(iii)   Which musical act outsold the Beatles, Rolling Stones, and the Who combined in the year 1967?

(iv)   Which duo has the record for the most uk top 20 hits?

(v)   What year did the following artists die and how? – (a) Freddie Mercury (b) Kurt Cobain (c) Buddy Holly (d) Marvin Gaye (e) John Denver

(vi)   Which single has spent the most weeks at the uk number 1 spot?

(vii)   What is Iron Maiden’s only uk number 1 and what year did it reach the top spot?

(viii)   What instrument did Madonna play before she became a singer?

(ix)   What is the highest selling film soundtrack?

(x)   Who is the most sampled artist in music?

Feel free to have a stab or throw in some guesses – but NO GOOGLING! And that’s an order!!! – unless you get desperate…  Roll Eyes

Freddie was 23rd November 92 I think - sad day Sad

Film Soundtrack is probably The Sound of Music or something dubious like that? In a sensible world you'd go for something by John Williams - Possibly Star Wars or ET?

Sampled artist - Vangelis?

Music is not my strong point Smiley

not vangelis
not sound of music (good guess tho)
not 1992. Although I believe there was a tribute concert then.

Date is very specific - where'd it come from?
