Blackpool is dying. It will be RIP if they don't win the casino. Utter disgrace. This Manchester poverty argument is a sham. Blackpool has alot of poverty, lack of employment etc etc too.

It also has the reputation, knowledge and infrastructure to make Supercasinos work.

I must say though, talk about putting all your eggs in one basket...

Oh and being Blackpool, doesn't make me biased. Honest :-)

Being from Manchester, I have to agree. Blackpool would be a better choice for this project.

Does a casino really put more money into an economy than it takes out?

by the sound of the debate the bill might get through if they increase the number of super casinos/resort casinos to 4
also they need to annouce the supers before the closing date of the large and then annouce them before the closing date for the small ones

so it might be 2040 before the first one comes online

or come up with something else to aplease everyone

What a mess! Nothing demonstrates better that Central Government should never interfere with the laws of supply & demand. They'll witter on for ever & achieve nothing meaningful except delay the inevitable.

Bring on the revolution.

I agree apart from the part about the revolution, we are better off than the alternative.

seriously though, what do you think about the DLR, any good?

thery're extending it to woolwich, thamesmead and across the water in time for the olympics.

Ive found it to be very helpfull in buzzing around se london, but this is just the opinion of a novice.

Well it is the tories who caused all this - they threatened to scupper the legislation b4 the last election if 8 resort casinos were created, so thats how we got just the one and eventually this has led to today's events.

The DLR is ok if you are not in a rush. I get it quite often to get into the City or central London from City Airport - but if you need to get somewhere quick then taxi or express bus is quicker IMHO.

I personally hope Blackpool gets the Casino even though the catchment area of Manchester is better placed. If people make an effort to go to the Supercasino then it will help regenerate the hotel infrastructure in Blackpool.
