hi guys you reported phill starrs out at 2.04 this morning but it says he has 42000 on the chip count page. can you confirm or deny lol
Well, I saw him lose an all-in with A-Q vs. A-K and leave the table, and it was DEFINITELY him, but the guys in the press room are saying he is still in, so I can only assume that he wasn't all-in at the time and has made a comeback. I know what he looks like, so I will confirm 100% once the day's play gets going.

Anyway I hope that tomorrow morning I have more exciting tales of the day and more schoking stories like a man I tried to get of a hand at the start of level 3.
I raised like I was doing a lot but had decided to play a little tighter now I had build up to 40K. he reraised me from 700 to 2500. I thought for a while and decided to set him in as I was confident he cant call me without QQ KK AA. I was wrong he decided to put his tourny on the line pushing his 8K he had left over the line with AK. When I asked him why his reasonable explaination was that he decided if I reraised him he was calling!
Ok I said TY.
Basically he is calling 8k to win 13k with AK, against a LAG, standard.

We hear that they've kind of tinkered with the blinds and we're going to start at 400/800 ante 100. This is a bit odd, but that's what I hear in the press room, so that's what I report.
Meanwhile the bean bag chill-out area has been usurped by some more TV people gearing up for the interviews, reviews and commentary which inevitably accompany huge tournaments like this. This is a sad development for tired updaters, but great for PaddyPower and the Irish Open - the interest in this tournament is huge. Someone asked in the lift, "What's it going to be like here next year?" and I was just about to mutter something boring about there being more than one start day when the lady cleaning the mirrors in there said, "It won't be here at all. The hotel is closing at the end of the year." So a change of scenery should this tournament continue to increase in popularity...

Only Danny left of the Mayo Mafia.
We've come up with a plan in case he gets into trouble. If he's all-in and behind, he gives me the nod and I take off on a strek. If I get the timing right I should be able to turn quick and scather the table!!! That'll give Devilfish something to talk about

Quick couple of updates from last night.
Although Donnacha O'Dea is still plugging away, O'Dea junior didn't quite make it, his Queens being outdrawn by A-T on a Ten high Flop.
Also, blondeite Joe 'goodluck2me' McGinley was taken out by double EPT finalist Patric Martensson late on in the day.

This one's for Barry...
Below is Mr Maz Nawab, who went missing last night, but that was because he'd wandered onto the TV table with the likes of Willie Tann and David Benyamine. Prior to that he'd climbed up to a very comfortable 40k after, first, hitting a set of fours on a raggy flop and being paid off by A-Q after two Queens on the Turn and River and then, eliminating actress Jennifer Tilley with T-7, Maz making a bigger straight on a 6-8-9 Flop. And after winning a few smaller pots, Maz has climbed up to a highly menacing 72,600. Well done that man, but damn him for knocking out the tottie.
He also told me that he wasn't overly comfortable on the feature table, at one point going against his instincts and not re-raising David Benyamine's continuation bet when he knew he was 'at it'.

Just spoke to Phil Starrs (quite the character, huh?) and I learned that it was
he
who had the A-K last night, so I apologise for that faux-pas. Hopefully the picture, along with neighbour Billy Ngo who was requested earlier in this thread, will confirm that he is most definitely 100% still IN.

Oh yeah, and he also said that he's going to go after the chicken and bring the trophy home, whatever the eck that means.

Also caught sight of Ali Mallu on my travels, free of the boxing gloves and seated next to a mystery player.
2 questions:
(1) Who is the mystery player?
(2) What table are they playing at?

Mayhem in these early stages, and it seems to be the curse of Seat 7, with Pat Murray, Namir Mohammed and Michael Veale all biting the dust early doors, the latter eliminated by Jarund Strand Soma, Tens into Jacks.

But not too sure on the table number.
