No bad beat story here, the outcome is irrelevant to the question.

Situation is a £500 nlh event with 45 minute clock and slow blind structure.

Blinds now 300 600 with 25 ante.

UTG has lost well over half his stack and is down to 5200 and moves all in.

Folded to you in mid/late position. You have 12000 chips. Later positions do not have more than 20000

You look down to see 10 10.

Fold or Push?

Given the size of the blinds in relation to stacks definetly push for me, without much doubt.

His range is obv huge given his stack size and the fact that hes BB next hand.

If I thought any of the players behind were looking happy with him moving all in I'd fold. Otherwise I'd move in, you can't pass this to the short stack unless, like Flushy said, he's a rock and you know he's been waiting for a big hand for ages.

Definitely one of those "had to be there" situations. Info is very limited here regarding the feel of the table.

But working blind with info given I would probably fold, this is possibly a small pair push, but if he has pushed with any 2 big cards you are gambling especially with players to act after you. I don't feel you need to gamble just yet.

I had this exact situation last year in the 1k euro at city west. I pushed from the sb, the bb who had me covered insta called with AA the fish, and took us both out..... doh!
I probably call here, rather than push but, really i can't say.... i'm so weak.

i don't think the blinds coming at him next hand have much to do with his push. he has almost 9 BB here. which is still a decent amount. given this i don't think you beat much of his range by enough to call off half your stack at this stage with a mid-pair.

On the face of it it looks like a pretty standard push to me

His range here is being crushed by our TT. (unless he is a rock)

I can never understand when people say he has a mid pair or overs and then say they would pass, you either think you are miles ahead or a little bit ahead, it's never good to pass!

Nice replies guys.

Having lost my first 5000 2 hands before the forced double chance add on - (watch Sky Poker on Monday to see how AND who!!) I had been solid grinding my way back to just over 10k.

I decided that I would "gamble" here to gain even more chips and then progress from there.

Still not convinced it was the correct move to push, and views of some Pro's there last night, the feedback from them is mixed aswell.

I would have to fold here. He's putting you in for half your stack, your postion mid to late says a re-raise possible. J's Q's has you. ..A fold for me. But then .. i am a rock..

Correct reply is to push. I dont give a fuck what the pro's say, long term your equity is + here. The results of one comp dont mean it aint right.
