How do you get the money out the country if you win?

Details of this were posted on 2plus2 and I asked the same question and didn't get a satifactory response.  Taking out cash in excess of 10k isn't allowed, so the key issue is whether the casino can wire winnings out of the country legally.

I can assure you there is NO problem taking funds out of Russia.
I suggest you do it via bank transfer (if you need help I can assist you) or if you have an account at fulltilt it can be deposited into your fulltilt account in Moscow and you can withdraw it wherever and whenever via whatever arrangements you have with Fulltilt.
There are several ways to do it but the one way NOT to do it is the way some uninformed English poker players have tried in the past - hiding large sums of cash in your luggage and not declaring it to customs is not the best way to go in any country in the world.
The best information I can give you is NOT to take advice from others who have either heard stories that it can't be done or who have never gone through the process.
I have been living in Russia for 5 years and move VERY large sums of money out of the country each month without any problems and without paying expensive bank fees.  If anyone requires assistance with this process I am happy to help, you can email me info@pokerprofessionals.ru

I don't doubt that Rebo knows what he's talking about - but at the same time I also can categorically state that when I lived in Russia (until last summer) I was not allowed by my Russian bank to move more than $10k at a time out of the country.

Also, I'm not sure how you would perform a bank transfer if you don't have an account there.

If FullTilt will pay you into your poker account or transfer the money directly to your bank account then obviously there isn't a problem. But speaking from my experience, trying to deal with large amounts of cash that you've suddenly acquired in Russia while there on a tourist visa - that really ain't the way to go.

It's well known that I & 3 others had trouble leaving Moscow with $90k last year.

For the record, I never hid my share of the money, it was in my pocket, & when questioned by Immigration at the Airport, I immediately declared it. As far as I am aware, the others did the same. I, & my colleagues, were NOT aware we could not take out such sums of money.

I was only carrying $7k, & it was returned to me. Two of the others were "fined" a total of $30k as I recall, "fined" being a loose term.

The fact is, we never knew the law. Now, we are confused. Some say any amount can be taken out, others say differently.

I, for one, would return to Moscow in a flash, and I'd help support the Event via blonde & Media, I absolutely loved it there, but I'd want to be clear on the Law first.

I wish you well with the Event Sir.

That Abramovitch fellow seems able to take out the odd eight or nine billion.. surely a paltry 100 k or so should'nt cause a problem... i mean it's not like your going to buy football club or something....

To T.K.
I can assure you there will be no problem whatsoever having funds transferred out of Russia.  Just don't expect to take out large undeclared amounts of cash. If you are bringing larg sums of cash with you make sure when you arrive in Moscow you complete the customs declaration form AND HAVE IT STAMPED.
With regard to bank transfers (and I speak from much experience) provided you are able to provide me with all your bank details to allow international transfers I will guarantee to transfer your funds for you and the bank charges from the Moscow bank will be no more than US$50 per transaction no matter how large the sum.
I have lived and worked here for 5 years and this month alone I have transferred in excess of $150,000 from Moscow to England for a total bank charge of $100.
Fulltilt also have a player transfer arrangement in place with me and the Cosmo Fulltilt Poker Club.  You can deposit funds into your fulltilt account prior to coming to Moscow and withdraw the cash at Cosmos on arrival and when you leave just deposit whatever you want with me at Cosmos and it will be credited to your fulltilt account while you watch, (normally only takes about 5 mins to go through) - this service is totally free.
This is going to be one great tournament so please don't be put off by some of the stories going around about not being able to move funds in and out of Russia.
Tournament dates >  October 12, 13, 14th.  Read more about it at our website fulltiltrussia.ru

Thanks Rebo - I'd love to come over - what is the Buy-In & what side Events will there be?

I love Russia, St Petersburg is my fave City in the world, with Moscow not far behind, & I've cashed big in both my trips to Russia.

Sorting Visas & "vouchers" is a pain, but do-able.

Let us know the Schedule, please.

Hi again T.K. The buy-in is US$10,500.  The Moscow millions is being held in conjuction with the Russian Poker Championships at Korona Casino in Moscow. An annual festival with buy-ins ranging from $100, $200, $500, $1,000, $2,000 set down for October 9th - 19th (no events scheduled on 12th,13th the 1st 2 days of the Moscow Millions) We are currently looking to locate a travel agent in London to take care of visas etc and my staff will be on the ground here in Moscow to assist with transfers and many other arrangements.
I expect many of the guys who have been here before will return, John Caggage, Simon Trumper, Mick Cook, Mike Magee, Jac Arama, Carlo citrone are just some of the guys I recall visiting in the past.  Fulltilt have guaranteed many of their stars will be coming and they are currently running daily satellites.
Look forward to meeting you in Moscow.
