A Medical Question
«
on:
May 05, 2007, 01:01:41 AM »
Hi folks, as Blonde are collectively one of the most intelligent communities, I hoped someone may be able to answer my question.
I was wondering if anyone has ever had a painful lump in the joint between your finger and hand. I am not sure what metacarpal or phalanges number it is, I slept through biology at School
. It is the middle finger anyway and is about the size of a small pea.
I have had it checked, but didn't really get much joy or answers, just fobbed off as usual when it isn't an obvious thing such as a broken leg or gunshot wound.
Any ideas? it appeared on my finger joint a few days ago and is becoming increasing painful. I was out a walk a few weeks ago with my dog, he pulled to get at another dog while on the leash, I pulled my hand then, but this was ages ago. This is the only finger trauma I have suffered in recent times that I can think of. It is not visible , but under the skin. It feels like it is dislocated, but my medical exam ruled this out.
thanks

sorry Sark, don't know, but just wanted to say hello. you nearly won an award at the blonde bash
If it keeps growing/getting more painful go back to the docs.

lost count of the times I've traumatised my hands over the years training. sometimes a hand injury will take months and months to heal itself.

thanks. Can you get a sudden dislocation of a finger joint? I woke up with the lump on my finger joint, I really can't think of anything I have done to cause it and it is far worse now than a few days ago

Arthritis,
ganglion cysts
, infected hair follicle, tick or spider bite...etc.
Could be the bold one, google it and see if symptoms are similar.

£100,000 a year job would be nice, but I often think Vets are more skilled as they deal with so many different types of patients and cases each day

Here comes the backlash again BUT
i couldnt be a vet coz i would find it easier to deal with a human dying than an animal!!!!
Im not going to say the other line thats in my head because that will open me up for a world of hurt!

Also, vets can't ask their patients where it hurts.

True, they are very skilled. My local Vet gets a bit of bad press, but in my experience he is a good guy. I think a good vet has to be able to put themselves in the animals position and calm them by chatting to the pet before seeing what is wrong. My Vet always has a quick talk with my dog before looking at him, one time a stand in vet examined my dogs foot and it was as if he was looking at a car wheel, he showed no warmth or kindness for my dog.
