You can track your lost mobile:

http://www.electricitygastele.com/powerswitch/follow/html/how_much_does_it_cost.html

Vodafone are best for this, report last known location when switched off.

You can back up your mobile phone contacts on this website - www.zyb.com. It's free.

Thanks Andrew!

i think your best bet is to go into a carphone warehouse shop where they will store all your numbers for you "on a computer", so that in the event of you losing your phone, you can get them to restore the numbers to your new phone.

i think they take a couple of quid for the service.

I once lost a phone in a taxi in Budapest. That isnt unusual, but what was, was the speed in which it was nicked. I had stepped out of the taxi at the hotel front door, the taxi pulled away - about thirty seconds later I realised i didnt have it, got to reception to phone it, and it was switched off - gone.

gotta love budapest taxi drivers....

The amount of old people who loose their mobile phone every day, I think they should put an upper age restriction on owning one.
