You know you need to remind me of promises made under the influence. I'm at the old dear's now - so I'll ask her to dig it out. (I'm off to watch the second half of the football - but will send it - promise!!

Not so long ago, I noticed an anomaly in the British poker world. British poker sites are quite willing to use the attractive female form to advertise their wares. Look at the DTD girls, or Leilani Dowding on Ladbrokes. These sites are quite willing to exploit the charms of young women to entice the attention of male poker players, but how many sponsor women to play poker professionally?

Vicky Coren, who I have the privilege to know, won the EPT London event through her own hard work, dedication and talent. She is very attractive. She is very bright. She is very successful, and she is on the telly,. The fact is, she wasn’t taken seriously  by many in the male dominated world of poker until she proved her doubters wrong.  Even now, I can hear the poker sexists bleating that she got lucky with the AJ when that bloke made a great call with 33.  Oh, come on! Roland de Wolfe, Andy Black, John Gale, all got lucky along the way. We all get lucky some time., but we all agree that poker is not a game of luck. Don’t we?

I had this idea. Why not encourage young, dedicated, good looking, intelligent women to become successful poker players?  Sex with brains sells to all men, and women. Gus Hansen and Patrik Antonius are good examples. Watch the opening titles of “Poker after Dark.” The best players in the world, and Jennifer Tilly, walk out of a lift and through the casino. For some reason, Jennifer Tilly in a low cut dress leads the parade. Not Phil Ivey and not Chris Ferguson. We all know why the producers made that decision.  I was browsing through some poker mags at sky poker last night. On the front cover of one, John Duthy, on the front cover of the other two, Jen Harman and Liz Liu. Is this immoral?

My wife Beverley is a fantastic poker player. She is also a feisty and confident woman who scares the s**t out of most of the men who play against her. If you think I’m in the business of disrespecting her and other women, you are off your trolley. I am championing the idea of women in poker.

A bit of beauty would not go amiss in the card rooms of this country. I am exploiting nobody. I am helping a few women who want to improve their game. I have taught all my friends to play, both male and female because I want them to be able to enjoy the thrill of the game that I love so much. We are all investing our time and enthusiasm with no financial commitment. If we all make a few quid in the long run, well, ain’t that what poker’s all about? or are you the one purist who wants to be a losing poker player?

I agree with you Charmaine - but everytime we object to the tottie bits we are ignored. Look at DTD objections - they ignored it completely. Infact RY said it was the funniest thread he's read in ages!

For the record I will say again - nothing wrong with women teams just don't like womens only tournys'

as I said in my first post in this thread norm- great business idea and if you need any help give me a yell. I am already mentoring  a group of newbies locally up here and a load of them went to a small event at a casino last night for the first time. None of them made fools of themselves. Out of the group one is an attractive 21 yr old blonde who isn't the strogest of players (yet) but gets by far the most attention in any comp I take her to. If I trained the whole group up to be proficient in the big tourneys I know which one would be picked up for sponsorship first. Anyone who claims an attractive woman doesn't get further in any walk of business life than someone not so attractive is deluding themselves imo, it may be wrong it may be sad but it is true.

i think its a great idea. my only suggestion would be re the picking of candidates. as youre a blonde norm why not use the vast knowledge inherent to the site and hold live webcast auditions of applicants for blondes to judge theyre suitability?

you could have x factor style auditions with girls answering poker related questions and some other informal type stuff to gauge personality (all dressed in suitable attire of course) (or not as the case maybe).

I've never met you so I cant jump in I'm afraid. Ms Tilly is not my cup of tea but shes famous and some class her as attractive so she has done well for herself, she ain't got the deal for being the greatest poker player in the world thats for sure from what I've seen on TV. Jenn, Bev and most of the other women on here would make mincemeat out of her on the table but how many of you have done a soft core porno with Gina Gershwin? Maybe this has something to do with how she has gotten on so well in the mainly male poker world Huh?

So then Dingdell..that's where we are going wrong, in order to progress we need to do a bit of girl on girl then we'll have it cracked in the poker scene..When the said deed has been done shall we post it on utube or pokerpages?
