Post your worthwhile *bad beat* stories here.

I'll start (worthwhile for me, I'm still in agony).

Medium stack mid $100 tourney, card dead for a while, dealt

Raise 3x BB in middle position, 2 callers.

Flop

Check, I check to trap maniac behind me.

What could possibly go wrong? Just a question of how much I can get out of them.

Wasn't counting on the world's craziest *****ing swallow coming in through my window , and flying AT me  in an attempt to get back out. Jumping up, I give myself 2nd degree burns on both legs courtesy of a scaldingly hot cup of tea . Bastard swallow made his way back out having done his worst  , and I'm short stacked having been unable to make it back to the mouse in time to click 'call'.

ps does anyone know any home burns remedies, I tried NHS 24 but they know next to nothing. They know even less about poker, but I suppose that's not in her job spec.

The swallow did you a favour as the turn was the - Great, Kings full I hear you shout and the river a harmless looking . But said maniac had Two Clubs three clubs and you commit suicide.

Seriously though, hope the burns aren't too bad. Sit in a bath with ice in.

I just broke with my own principles and posted a bad beat on the Internet Poker board. Then read this and felt thoroughly ashamed of myself lol - it wasn't this bad.

Unlucky - and hope you aren't too badly hurt and it gets better soon.

As for the poker though, you should probably just see this as short-term variance. Over the long term, you'll almost certainly be on the right side of one of these incidents, when another swallow flies at your head and shits on your mouse, rendering it inoperable and preventing you from making an all-in call that would have seen you dumped out of a tournament. Swings and roundabouts, see.
