Your password would be saved, just like many poker sites, you just click once and you are in. So you would see:

ironside

xxxxxxx

(you just click "log in")

This way you would not have to type it in and everyone would always see the front screen news and without having to click back from the forum.

Exactly same number of clicks as you currently do, just in a different order.

Surely you would not leave becuase of this?

Agon, I think this prototype is fantastic. much kudos to your design skills (it might appear easy, but doing this sort of thing takes either a hell of a lot of work, or an incredibly gifted eye for composition). It would be a 100% improvement on the current site.

As to the password box - yeah it should be on the front page. As the site grows from strength to strength there may be a whole number of features that require a login. Having to travel to the forum to do so is obviously village. And with but a wee bit of code you can invisibly utilise the forums password security and db tables anyhow. Advertising will have to be put somewhere, but i think the proposed layout here is not too bad - just insist that advertisments aren't too distracting.

Again, I think this is really great work.

(And Iron,, saying that you'd leave the site if you had to type your password in on a different page, is hardly what I'd expect of an admin on uk's best poker site Angry.  You have to type you're password in somewhere, there's no reason it should be on the posting page rather than the front page! you're cookies will work just the same....)

ok ok ok i might not leave but would be extrmely pissed off if i had to type in my password

without typing it in i cant see anyway they can make you go via the front page and personally i hate having to type in my pass i have to do it enough as it (admin security checks)

if they was a cookie remember the pass so i didnt need to type it whats to stop me going straight to the forum via the url its impossible to mask the true url so that you cant come straight here and then the cookie would give log me in

are you using firefox to browse the site Iron? It has an autofill for logins, which updates itself when you change you're password (i also change my passes every so often), which is damn useful.

(In fact if anyone is still using crappy internet explorer to look at the web, tsk to you. download firefox now: http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/)

like the new layout - especially the bottom one , the dodgy 60`s housewife on the top one looks like she should be advertising soap powder and is rather cheesy , the new logo aint bad , definitley an improvement on the old one which always reminded me of the front of one of those  lap dancing bars that some of my friends visit Grin
was a good from tony g i reckon - get the blondes to come up with a logo and have a vote on the most popular

I don't know if it's just me that has this issue, but I find that as I access the forum a lot at work, the current home page with the reclining female must look a bit 'dubious' to any wandering eye who may catch it over my shoulder, I'm therefore always very careful to bypass the home page and come straight into the forum. I think the new designs retain that 'edginess' needed to attract interest to passing visitors, but in a more subtle way which would avoid problems like the above. Just my two cents...

I think the new proposed page is awesome, it looks modern with a retro feel, is well designed and a warm feel to it. I think there are a efw good points that have been raised. My first one I think Rob said. I understand the economic reasoning behind the sponsors but it certainly should not overtake the editorial content. I think it is in danger of doing that. The first thing I saw when I logged in was Full Tilt, not the Blonde Logo. Maybe that is intentional....
Regarding the "sexy" side of things, I think it is working fine "as long as it is not overdone" and there is not a huge emphasise put on it. Just another part / addition to the site.
Overall, very impressive.

We appreciate the great  input. This is just a first
draft design and we will work on it taking into account
            everyone's suggestions.

Can I add another NO to the logon through the front page please.

I already get warned at every appraisal about my internet browsing on work time - I like the forum because it's quite discreet, going through the front page might annoy my boss enough that I have to cut down & do some work. As I'm paid for what I know more than what I do - I want to keep it that way  Wink

I may be speaking out of turn here, but I'm not too sure about the woman with the yellow hair on the LOGO.

Surely the Blonde in Blonde Poker refers to Dave "El Blondie" Colclough?Huh?

That's my tuppenth worth anyhow.

T

No we need a new blonde each week, to download and use as desktop wallpaper. Like a poker babes calendar. Instead of babes drapping themselves over modded cars with go faster stripes, we can have them over poker tables and such like!
