Apologies if my post was at all misleading, however I'm sure that you will agree what I'm asking you guys to do is a worthy cause, and worth five minutes of your time to sign the petition and also forward it to all of your poker playing friends.

Thanks.

Scott.

The petition against pay-as-you-go road pricing got nearly 2 million signatures, and that managed to change government policy, didn't it?

Oh, wait, no it didn't - it made sod all difference.

I fail to see how a petition of 10,000 people in favour of establishments which are currently operating illegally is going to make a lick of difference.

You may as well try and get Spandau Ballet's "Gold" adopted as the national anthem - actually, I signed that one.

I'm not a live player, but I signed it because I thought it was supporting what most poker players would want.

so if I'm one of the few, it's obviously not a big thing.

I'm also obviously missing something

I thought the idea was that a seperate rule for poker would mean that smaller clubs could operate legally & cheaply, and so players wouldn't have to go to casinos, which charge more, in order to play live.

What have I missed ?

i think that most cardrooms charge a similair rate to casinos for comps (casinos are limited to what they can charge by law

as for cash games its pays your money take your chance as many cardrrooms charge rake instead of rent (casinos cant charge rake by law)

for most casinos poker is loss making in the hope that poker players will drop on the casino games
cardrooms cant operate at a loss as they dont have house games for players to lose money on

I agree, not sure what all the hostility is about.

Casino's can charge what they want as long as they call it sessions not reg fees, and from September Casinos can rake

I run a game in "illegal" establishment, we don't charge entry fees for tournies and we don't rake pots and all dealer dealt (good dealers as well btw) There are piss takers in the "underground" poker scene, but the average "illegal" game is run by enthusiasts and not for profit.

so you are running dealer dealt game for fee infact you most have a great sponsor to pay all the overheads and and wages
either that or you are getting the money in some other way like a door or membership fee (rake in one form or another)

btw guys i aint hostile to these clubs i hope they do become regulated and that if you have a dispute in a club you can have somewhere to take your dispute cause at present if you feel that a TD has backed a regular over you and you have been swindled there is nothing you can do with a casino you can go up the chain and if they fails you can report it to the regulator
