I'm just making this up as i go along, you seem to know the names of these "bands"

It's alright, you downloaded a few westlife records, we've all got drunk and thought flying without wings was a tune at one time or another, be proud of your taste in music. Grin

I don't actually like the music of Girls Aloud, Steps & S-Club 7, but my girlfriends are of the age that thry appreciate such stuff, so one goes along with it. Needs must as the devil drives, eh?

I happened upon this article about the re-recording.  I was surprised at the lengths that have been gone to to pander to Oasis.  If it were my choice I'd have told them where to go!

They need bands like Oasis involved to get the wider coverage. If it was just Stereophonics and The Fray (who?) no one would give a monkey's.

I agree they need big names, but Oasis specifically - not necessariily.  In any case, do you really think that if the powers that be had said to Oasis - you either come to West London or you can't be on the album, that they would have chosen not to take part?  Can't see it myself.

Remarkably, there are very few bands from the past decade or so who are universally known throughout most of the population. U2, Coldplay and Oasis are three who you could imagine your grandad (insert Tikay joke here) knowing of (mostly because of Bono's charity stuff, Chris Martin marrying Gwyneth and Liam's big mouth). But Stereophonics, The Fray - even Kaiser Chiefs are not huge superstars. They did actually need Oasis, and not only because they are the band who are most obviously known as Beatles fans.

Essentially, without U2 and Oasis, this thing wouldn't be on the Nine O'Clock news.
