Im off my game , whats happening to me

Im a fairly experienced poker player and I take the game pretty seroiusly in the hope of one day turning pro . I record everthing I do at the tables and last month I cashed 63% of the time which I thought was excellent . I play in Leeds mainly 5 and 10 rebuys which can be hard work due to the all in culture any two cards thing , but if I get thru the rebuy with chips I usually make the final table . I now seem to believe that I am better than everybody who plays there , and this has led me to the all in over the top , trying to outplay everybody post flop thing , I seem to be loosing control when I know Im behind . Anyway this month I havnt won a thing and I dare not record this in my little book as my confidence has been Knocked for six . Part of my strategy in a tourney is to show a crazy bluff and this creates action later when I have a monster , I am very aggresive at times , and tight at others . Can anybody work out where Im going wrong , should I be playing in a better standard of game , how do I get my self control back .

welcome aboard.
firstly, you must record everything, good and bad. there's no point just writung down your wins. your records will be pointless then.
secondly, don't judge yourself too much by your performances in fiver rebuys. there's little or no actual poker played in the night. by the time the field has been culled of most of the loonys, the blinds are probably so high it's a craps shoot.
If you've been winning as much as you say, hopefuly you'll have a few hundred quid put aside as a bankroll. find a bigger game and find out how good you really are.if you've not been keeping it to one side, keep grinding and start doing so.
good luck

This is probably normal varience. On one hand I hate varience, on the other hand though it wouldn't be fun without it.

also, in a 5 or 10 rebuy you don't need to show bluffs to generate action later. the game's probably loose enough, infact I'm suprised you can get a bluff through. in Nottingham 20 or even 30 rebuys it's pretty much a show down game for the first hour

Hi`,
welcome to blonde....is your name a reason why your of your game...too much of it
that aside how about going back to the games you played well in and study the game play you used...compare that to what you are doing now and you may see you are making calls you would never have made but are perhaps a wee bit overconfident?
hope you get your mojo back

You need to adapt your game to your opponents.
Sophisticated moves only work on sophisticated players. If your opponents hail from Sesame Street, ABC poker should see you through.

Hidyho, and welcome to Blonde.
Two pieces of information that have been given to me (one from this forum) that have helped quite a lot are:
1. Change your mentality about each individual tournament. I used to play tournaments individually, and would feel like there was more pressure to do well if I didn't place or do well in a particular tourney. Someone suggested that I think of a single tourney as being one of a whole series of tourneys over a period of time (a year for example), and this shifted my focus and I now play a whole lot better for it.
2. Take a break. If you find you are in a rut in your performance of tourney play, give it a rest. Give poker a rest full stop for a period. Even a fortnight may do, it's up to you really, but a break of not thinking about or playing poker will help you focus when you start again.
These two suggestions helped me a lot, they may help you too, you never know.
