Scharner is apparently at Anfield.

Please Fowler no. I cant handle a midfield containing Lucas Poulsen and Scharner. All we'll need is Gravesen and Carsley for the most exciting midfield ever.

Signing for WBA apparently.

Hodgson has said we're trying to sign a striker and it's not Toivonen. Weeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Went to the game yest. Poulsen was awful! Lost count of the misplaced passes in the game. Jovanovic can run around a lot, but a poor final ball.

For long periods of the game, WBA more than deserved a point.

I hope it will just take time for the side to gel.

Lucas was class though

Gomez talk seems to be gathering pace, coming in on loan

I thought Lucas did ok but we were so bad all over he's been made into the scapegoat again. I think he'd do so well in Italy or Spain where 2-3 touches every time you receive the ball is fine.

I dont mind Jovanovic but we're so narrow with him and Kuyt we'll struggle to break teams down at home.

I'd like this to be honest. A year or two back before a poor Euros and a huge move to Bayern he was thee sought after striker in Europe.

Is Konchesky worth getting excited about? All this talk about  Konchesky (Surely not a top team player but a solid squad player) makes me think the standard has been dropped way too much for Liverpool to be a top 4 team again...especially when Man City get a new manager (does anyone still think Mancini is the right man for the job/will be in the job much longer?) or start to gel.

Not worth getting excited about but it's a squad upgrade on Insua who leaves for Galatasaray, plus he's English. It's like replacing Cavalieri with Brad Jones, it just makes sense.

I think the first XI may be weaker than last season but the squad does look deeper.

Yeah it was shocking the abuse lucas got!  Looked miles better than Poulsen!!!  He may just need time to settle, suppose we have to watch this space.....  i agree the 1st team look a lot weaker than last year, but more depth.  Could say more depth in mid table players....

I liked the look of Jovanovic 1st couple of games.  Another work horse like Kuyt.  Dont think he is a patch on cole though.

Also the back 4 looked really dodgy.  Agger got turned inside out a couple of times, and carra looked really slow (nothing new there then!).

I think its a trans period for us.  Will take some time for the team to settle.

It will all come together I hope...

Liverpool have confirmed Nabil El Zhar has joined Greek side PAOK on loan until the end of the season.

Liverpool have completed the transfer of Damien Plessis to Greek outfit Panathinaikos for an undisclosed fee.

Emiliano Insua has joined Turkish giants Galatasaray on loan for the rest of the season.

I've always thought konchesky to be a much better left midfielder than a full back. the problem is that he wants to play lb and gets stroppy if asked to play anywhere else so no team's ever likely to see the best of him

Insua was the weakest-link in the team last season, and I hope he does well elsewhere but am glad it will be elsewhere whilst he learns his trade.

Not sure anyone's excited about him.  It's an improvement on Insua, Aurelio is made out of egg-shells, and playing Agger there is definitely not the solution. So it's a pragmatic signing rather than an exciting one.  I think he's competent enough though, and we'll be a stronger side with him in the XI.  It will hopefully mean that Skrtel gets a rest from the first XI as well.  Carragher and Agger (or Kyrgiakos for that matter) are a far better pairing imo.
