Hate these "till end of season" appointments. Some bookies pay out and others don't.

Kenny Dalglish has won more trophies as a manager than Roy Hodgson has won EPL away games

Dam I was hoping he'd hang around til Blackpool had drubbed em.
Now the writing is on the wall from some brief emotional legend inspired resurgence. Then they'll realise Dalglish is hopelessly out of touch with the modern games coaching techniques and cling on until a proper coach comes in. This is like Newcastle plumping for Keegan and Shearer all over again...
Except Dalglish is miles better you mean?

Be interesting how Dalglish gets on. The old guard havent really done well in the premiership. Howard Wilkinson at Sunderland. Graham Taylor at Villa. Trevor Brooking at West Ham

New Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish denies he's out of touch and is confident he can knock Nottingham Forest off their perch.

If all he achieves between now and May is to bring the pride back into wearing the shirt, then as far as I'm concerned that will be a job well done.
I think that is all is needed from him. He isn't getting a shed load of money to but new players in January, we aren't looking for him to get us back in the title race or the CL race for that matter.
A short term fix and a focus on getting the pride back in the club as a whole on and off the field.

Sky sports rumours...£9mill for N'Zogbia??
It's one that's been mentioned quite a few times.
Not really that sure about him to be honest, but definitely better than Konchesky. Would be happier signing him than Huth...
But N'zogbia is a winger not LB
Doesn't matter to Liverpool...they just want new players on the books.
Matis; obv Keegan is right (upto a point) an overhaul of Liverpool is definitely required...but you need the right man for that sort of thing (An Arsene wenger type guru) and I doubt that Roy Hodgson is that.
Yeah, perhaps that's the case. Hodgson has taken the reins of a side in decline and has failed to have an impact so far. Was Benitez the right man to take Liverpool forward either? It's not a black & white situation. The good times didn't stop rolling as soon as Benitez left and Hodgson arrived
. The club's foundations were on the slide during his whole tenure.
You're right about Wenger, he's built solid foundations and a footballing ethos at Arsenal that you don't see at Liverpool.
BTW N'Zogbia was superb against Arsenal until he got sent off. Showed good fighting spirit when he head-butted Jack Wilshere as well. Liverpool could use him.
Off the field I completely agree with this assessment. Only on the field we're were only strengthened year on year until the previous manager had a transfer kitty of zero for two years whilst every other club went mental on signings.
I like N'Zogbia, I think he can do a job.
Yeah, but not sure Rafa spending all Liverpool's available cash on team strengthening to the detriment of everything else is something to celebrate. Why didn't he say to the owners he could make do for a couple of years in order to keep Liverpool up with the big guns in terms of structure and foundation. Isn't that what Wenger did? Also, what is strengthening the team? What players did he buy that have contributed to the reverance of playing for Liverpool in the long run? Signing mavericks who don't give a toss about the club, even if they are better playes on paper, builds what long-term?
Anyway gg Roy. But really can't see what Dalglish is gonna do here.

Ya very true. I hope in pure footballing terms it doesn't end up being a long term appointment. It makes massive sense for right now though.

Certainly alot more stable and less emotional than Keegan; definitely more experienced than Shearer...but still I can't help but get the feeling that its an appointment to please the fans. I hope for Liverpool's sake it is only a very short stop gap, as I can't see any success lasting more than 5 or 6 games.
The only way I can see it working is if he gets some really good coaches in and takes up a role more akin to that of a traditional manager.
I hope it works. I don't like Liverpool, but the game is not the same without them threatening to win something. I also have a massive amount of respect for the (real, local) fans.
Fair points but I think he's purely an impact manager.

Precisely and bring some good football back and some determination back.
He should play himself off Torres.
End thread.

What cash? You have lost me with the first bit.
He did say to the owners (both sets) about the stadium. Look how that turned out. We couldn't afford transfer windows without profit let alone a stadium. I am not sure how stupid owners is being turned into Benitez's fault?
He asked to change the youth set up. Ours was ancient. Now the youth teams and reserve team and first team all play the same way (just like Arsenal), we have good promising talent coming through, we have two of the best youth scouts and one of the best youth coaches in the world pinched right from Barcelona. Is this the kind of structure and foundation you were referring to?
You are missing the point with your last question. He bought what he could afford. Prior to 08/09 his transfer record is pretty hard to criticise. Now ask that same question of Hodgson. (Poulsen 30 Konchesky 29 Cole 29 hmmmm.......)
