Gatso you obv dont rate him either , could you expand on your point please about the terrible transfer policy please.
carrol, torres and henderson are all ridic deals all involving liverpool
the club's probably ended up about evens overall though but individually each of those deals was crazy
Fair enough, as long as you appreciate that we did ok out of the Carroll deal, We paid over the odds for Carroll because we got way too much for Torres.
As for JH, I honestly dont know how good he is, I will confess to not seeing many Sunderland games last season. I did however notice there seemed to be a bit of hype about the lad and obv he got an England cap, so he must have been doing good. I'm not sure how or where he will fit in or at whos expense. But as Kin alluded to, for years we have never had strength in depth in the squad and I dont care if good players have to sit on the bench , Its good to have competition for places and also everyone will be needed at some stage injuries will always play a part.
Bottom line, I'm sure Kenny and Comolli know what they're doing , I will trust their judgment at this moment in time.

We have Carroll, Suarez, Kuyt in the first XI from last year as 'strikers', with plenty of others who can play in the 'hole' - such as Maxi, Gerrard, Mereiles. Then there are the young lads to come through as well, some of them are looking like they could breakthrough soon. Ngoo for one shouldn't have a problem in terms of size, he's a big unit.
If we buy another 'quality' striker are they going to be happy sitting on the bench 99% of the time?
Connor Wickham?
He's been linked to us and pretty much everyone else, even Newcastle
Can't say I know that much about him, and have only seen him play once or twice.

This isn't meant as a rub but surely Dalglish should be concentrating on sorting the first XI before worrying about strenght in depth ?

When i talk about stength in depth I'm more referring to having a top class bench so that if in any particualar game is going terribly then we have the ability to roll out 2 or 3 big guns to change the match. Also if were playing Norwich(no offence, just an e.g) at home we could go with a more flair , attacking type team but If we're away to Chelsea then we have options to play a less attacking side.
Its all about having a big squad of good players not just the first XI, options options options, as i said if that means good players like Kuyt, Meireles, Lucas , Henderson or whoever have to sit on the bench for a few games , then thats just tough.

First XI is fine, with the exception of the left-side of midfield. We just need more strength in depth.

'fine' isn't good enough imo. We need amazing, superb, wonderful, goaltastic etc.

That would be nice
The problem we have is that with one or two injuries we go from 'fine' to 'not fine'. That's why we need to strengthen the depth of the squad, so we have more than a fine first XI. This is obviously why Henderson was signed, as we have other players who can play where he plays. We need to have similar depth in defence, and of course we need the same strength in left-mid position.

There's talk that Blackburn centre-back Phil Jones is now in talks with manu, and won't be joining Liverpool. There's lots of talk about all sorts though as it's transfer rumour silly-season, so not sure how much truth is in it. Must admit, he looks the part to help shore up our central defence.
how much does a proven centre back cost nowadays? just seen that we've done a £2 million deal with arse for carl jenkinson. that's for a kid with only 8 league 1 games under his belt. crazy stuff
I'm not sure, but heard figures of £8-10M for Jones.
Manu offering £16M allegedly (again all rumour and unsubstantiated)

Really ? I'd say your weak in defence, esp LB & CB. I'd say your midfield is the only part of your team strong enough to compete with the top 4 already. You have 2 v good strikers but nobody on the bench.

Think Hughes is value in this. It's sucking me in. I've seen "Rafa to be confirmed in 24hrs" and "not lumping on Villa to have a Spanish manager next" by journo's on twitter. Hughes's price has never really gone out like you would expect with all the "Villa weren't impressed, not on our shortlist talk"
Rafa is still pretty backable for somebody set to be confirmed. Just got the feeling Hughes gets this. 6/1 on 365.

First XI is fine. Carragher and Agger at CB, Aurelio at LB. Up front we have three decent strikers to choose from, and like I said previously others who can play in the hole behind one striker.
The problem, like I said, is depth behind that. I'm hoping Kelly can establish himself at CB this season, but we'll have to wait and see. We definitely need to strengthen the squad this summer and left-mid is the crucial position for me.

Don't mean to be harsh but can Aurelio really be named as LB in a "fine" XI?
People have children more frequently than he plays 90min games don't they?
