Masch dedicates the medal to Liverpool fans! Hero! All is forgiven fella.
Gary Neville's face after was brilliant.

Yes, it was a nice touch from Mascherano.
Not sure Neville's face and the word 'brilliant' should ever be in the same sentence.

Opinions on jordon henderson from Sunderland for circa £13m
I haven't seen too much of him but he does seem highly regarded

During last season, the talk was manu were looking to sign him (might still be?) - and he's obviously talented but again not sure if he's what we want/need as a priority. He's still young, so should appreciate in value and that might be the thinking of getting him sooner rather than later, but not if Sunderland are valuing him at £20M.

Looks like Henderson is joining us. Ngog going the other way?

How can he be worth 20 million ? Seems a good player but WTF, what's he done ? Makes Carroll look good business for you.

LFC obviously have a policy to invest in the North East
£20M sounds like a lot of money, but he's young and he's English - and that seems to inflate the price dramatically. The £20M figure is what the papers are saying, but if the deal includes Ngog, then the total amount depends on the valuation of Ngog as well.
We've been linked to another dozen or so English players as well, so will be interesting to see who we get. I still want Hazard, but I guess that's unlikely.

£12/13M + Ngog is the figure being banded about (although nothing official of course). Sounds like a decent deal at that price imo.

I know the Kenny love in is still in full swing but this one makes little sense to me.
Where is he going to play in the short term? - is he really going to displace Lucas, Gerrard or Meireles? Is he really going to develop better then Pacheco, Shelvey, Sterling and the like - genuinely curious.
20/12/13M all seem crazy, almost as crazy as Sunderland taking Ngog at any price but £7m lol
Just think if you got 20m to throw about it could be better invested elsewhere, but guess there is more to come. Never a dull moment at Liverpool that is for sure.

Ngog isn't worth 8mil so suppose it's not as bad. Don't think Henderson is worth more than 10 max.
Agree Liverpool should be looking to strengthen in other positions first, great post Nakor

I agree that the midfield is becoming crowded, even before Henderson. I guess it means that Aquilani is definitely on the move (as if we didn't know that already), and not sure where Henderson will be played. Bruce has said they're not sure where his best position is as well.
As a Liverpool fan, I've been bemoaning the lack of strength in depth in the squad. It looks like we have a lot more quality in the squad in midfield now.
As for Henderson versus the other young players you've mentioned, I only think Shelvey is one you could really closely compare with Henderson, and Henderson is a year or two ahead of him at the moment (arguably). I'd expect them both to grow and improve over the next few seasons.
Is Henderson one for now or the future? Well according to Opta, only four players created more goalscoring chances in the 2010/11 PL season than Jordan Henderson, so he's not just potential.
Apparently the next targets are in defence, which is somewhere we definitely need a bit more strength in depth.

Pleased with Henderson, but main concern is, is this a "future in mind" purchase.
I agree with the policy of English and Young - to a degree. We desp need to get back in the frame (at the very least) the CL and we won't do this with this type of player.
See what happens, but I don't want another period where we buy the best young English players, like we did with the French (Houllier - Vignal, Cisse, Pongelle, Troare, Cheyrou) and Spanish (Rafa - Josemi, Nunez, Gonzalez), players, that turn out to be worse than the present!
