I thought this was quite a good article on Arsenal's transferbudget
http://bleacherreport.com/articles/385895-how-big-is-arsenals-transfer-budget
they also come to approx £50mill....you can buy some pretty tasty players with that but Arsene seems intent on not bringing anyone new in. Obv the way they went about "trying" to get a new goalie during the last transfer window was laughable and amateurish at best.
As I said, he's been immense at Arsenal..but I reckon that he should go just about now and be replaced by a manager that will be told that "This is the way we play, you manage around this" like they do at Barca.

Rafa's time at Liverpool has been IMO. Not saying replacing him with Hodgson was a good idea obv but Rafa couldn't do anything with them anymore.
The same for Wenger at Arsenal IMO...reckon it's time for him to go now.
Have to say this is a ridic statement.
y? No other manager- not even Sir Alex would have been given as long as Wenger has. He's underachieved for ages. Should have been sacked ages ago.
Wtf - people actually think this?
Yep- think hes been lucky. He hasnt won anything for ages. Nothing.

Arsenal have been top 4 throughout under Wenger, and a CL final.
All this up against MU and Abramovich's spending
The best youth system around, and all done with the club really healthy off the field too
I don't understand his transfer policies with goalkeepers or central defenders much, but deservedly I think his position is safe for as long as he wants it
Superb manager, overall

Where can any british team go? Arsenal might win the league. Unlikely to win the cl with barca around. He's doing fine

Title contenders each year, the occassional deep run in cl, and if (when?) the influx of new owners get bored of their clubs Arsenal will have the infrastructure on and off the field to still survive, and thrive.
Also who would take over, and improve the clubs standings?

title contenders? No they are not. They are the third best team in the league (or at least 1st eleven). Admittedly ManU has an ageing squad as does Chelsea but Arsenal are not title contenders every year.
2005-2006 4th 24 points behind Chelsea
2006-2007 4th 21 points behind Chelsea
2007-2008 3rd 4 points behind ManU
2008-2009 4th 18 points behind Man U
2009-2010 3rd 11 points behind Chelsea
So only in 2007-2008 did you come close.
FA Cups you've also not been competing the past couple of years (can't be arsed going further back)
2007-2008 5th round 4-0 loss to Man U
2008-2009 4th round 3-1 to Stoke
Obv, you're qualifyingfor the knockout stages of the CL but this has very little to do with Arsene surely? I will ignore the diddy cup as you've not won that either but Arsene has been treating that as a training excersise for his kids thusfar.
Who would take over would be anyone who doesn't think that they are already doing enough by finishing in the top 4 every year. Arsene set up the system but now have someone like Van Gaal (who understands a passing type of system) or Hiddink (same) take over. There must be other managers out there, (Bergkamp would be an interesting your protege, V Basten etc. etc) The last two might not be big names but neither was Arsene when he started and the club is not moving anywhere under him.

Couldnt have put it any better myself (or couldnt be arsed to do the research)
Arsenal have not been in the title race for a number of years now. He somehow has immunity because of the way they play football. Big deal.
All this talk of youth- how many players have actually become world class?

Do you think Arsenal will be where they are now, if Arsene left 2, 3, 4, years ago? And who else would've had Arsenal in their best interests, instead of just £££ or a stepping stone to a bigger contract.
Fwiw I think they're overrated, whinging, prima donna's. But I can't get behind the thinking that someone else would've done a better job.

Which is still well over par for his resource.
On a £ per points ratio he's the best manager the EPL has ever had by a million miles.

For me it's more when the "you can only spend what you make" rule kicks in and Utd's debt means they cant buy even a DJumbo-DJumbo and the super rich owners won't be allowed to subsidise everything.
Clubs run in Arsenal's model will be walking the league.
It'll be then that mental fans want rid of Fergie for not winning anything in ages just as some nutters did between 2004-2007.
