Kin, do you want us to qualify for the europa league?
Financially it aint worth that much, and it really grates me with all the thursday night/sunday3pm fixtures it throws up. Oh and obv we can then concentrate on our title push
Yes. Might encourage some new players to sign for us (or not discourage them at least). How much is it actually worth financially?

2009-2010 winners bagged about £6m.
Spurs for their CL group alone would have picked up about £15-18m.
There was meant to be a rev share change in recent seasons but it's minimal.

Of course, we want CL football - but as we're not getting that the Europa league revenue is more than welcome, surely?
£6M directly, plus additional revenue from ticket sales, deals, etc.

I honestly think, in spite of the extra money, it's be better for you NOT to qualify. I really don't think a club with your history needs to be in the Europa league to attract players. Players want to play in the CL. I doubt a player would pick you over Spurs/Man City because "I want to play Europa League football"
In fact if they did they may not be the kind of player you want

If (big if) we finish above Spurs - would we not therefore have more allure than Spurs during the summer transfer window?

As much as I loathe to agree with this sentiment I do. I think most players given a choice between the two clubs would pick Liverpool for footballing reasons. Only reason why they might go for Spurs could be the London factor

is kenny going back up stairs or staying on?
I really wouldnt under estimate the impact he has had ( i know you dont). I believe if you get in a new manager (who isnt mourinhio/redknapp type), you will have another average year next season.
This is still a very similar team, just under different guidance and more to the point motivation!

I'll admit I was a doubter. But the guy just has "it". His interviews are class, motivationally he's excellent, the atmosphere at the club is amazing, tactically he's sound if not a genius and his knowledge of players is meant to be, by all accounts, remarkable.

I know what you're saying but each EPL position is worth what, £2m/£3m now?
Also if we make the CL spots your CL revenue from the season after is higher if you finish higher. (ie the season after Liverpool finished second in the league the group stage would have paid more than any other year as our slice is bigger) so I'd rather be 2/3 spots up the league than winning the Europa league if I had to choose, although obviously I'd rather do both.

If you're talking prize money then about 800k between positions. When you add the split from the TV rev share it's a lot more. I'm certain it was over £2m per place a few seasons back.

But surely:
[X] Finishing above Spurs after the start to the season we had = priceless?

Having the Europa League to play for as a trophy must be some added motivation for the squad as opposed to solely concentrating upon the EPL.
