This is interesting reading. Even without the top clubs getting appearance money for being the marquee attractions and therefore being on tv more, the different between places is huge. It is also worth noting that it's now better to win the EPL financially than the CL.

I thought each pos was worth half a mill ? If I where a Liverpool fan I'd hope we weren't in the Europa Lge.
If you're talking prize money then about 800k between positions. When you add the split from the TV rev share it's a lot more. I'm certain it was over £2m per place a few seasons back.
But surely:
[X] Finishing above Spurs after the start to the season we had = priceless?
Even more so when you hear Redknapp hailed a genius everywhere you look! Please let it happen....

Having the Europa League to play for as a trophy must be some added motivation for the squad as opposed to solely concentrating upon the EPL.
Agree. Plus the squad will hopefully be big enough and strong enough to play good teams in both competitions.

I'm sure the indirect revenue from winning the CL is huge though, and possibly more than winning the EPL, or maybe not?

Italicised is from wikipedia so may or may not be 100% accurate...
As of 2010–11, UEFA awards €2.1 million to each team in the play-offs round. For reaching the group stage, UEFA awards €3.9 million, plus €550,000 per group match played. A win in the group is awarded €800,000 and a draw is worth €400,000. In addition, UEFA pays teams reaching the first knockout round €3 million, each quarter finalist €3.3 million, €4.2 million for each semi-finalist, €5.6 million for the runners-up and €9 million for the winners.
Assuming the winners won four and drew at least one of their group matches that makes E10.6MM plus E19.5MM for winning the next four games and a total of cE31.5MM which is around £25MM in real money?
NB - These figures don't include TV money which makes this next bit even more interesting...
A large part of the distributed revenue from the UEFA Champions League is linked to the "market pool", the distribution of which is determined by the value of the television market in each country. For the 2008-09 season, both Manchester United and Bayern Munich, who reached the final and quarter-final respectively, earned more than Barcelona, who won the tournament
Premier League numbers seem hard to find, but c£800,000 per place = c£16MM for the winners

I'll try to dig out numbers for those interested but the last EPL winners bagged about £50m all in. The last CL winners were at about £40m.
The prize money is just a small part of it.

Hard to disagree he hasn't done an amazing job at Spurs tbf, Europa League is no bigger than the Carling Cup imo and takes a lot more games to win.

Hard to disagree that they are currently in the position in the league that reflects their level of spending.

But the last CL winners got less from the rights pool, an English side would get more...

Hard to disagree that when he took over the job the previous manager had spent a lot of money and the club where bottom of the league.
