mccrick was poor before he was a crap bookie and a crap buisnessman
a bookie should never go broke and the betting exchanges mean that they have insurance for any bet

not disputing he wasn't iron lol just your question was have u ever seen a poor bookie(no other criteria) so i answered it lol bookies have always had the facility to lay off there liabilities long befor ebetting exchanges. but some chose not to by being to greedy and gambling themselves. thats how bookies go broke!

before betting exchanges they could lay off the bets elsewhere but with the betting exchanges they can do it and get +EV on the odds where as before it was -EV and thus gave them the inclination to gamble

the odds arent always better on the exchanges.
they used to get +ev because they would get there lay off bets tax free (in the days of 10% tax)

My brother works for the tote and tells me a similar story to this. The machines in bookies are a goldmine.

bookies are suffering the same risk to their business from the internet as everyone else is - betting exchange can offer better prices, they dont have any overheads, meaning that the the traditional bookie is having to offer bigger prices and basically have less margin in their book. all good news for the punter though....Although try to go into one of the corporates (hills, laddies etc) and have a grand at an early price on any event....good luck !
