anyone been ? recommend any good hotels. Decided to treat me and the other half to a week there at the end of the month, just really looking for peoples experiences of the place. To be honest, without sounding too glib, most of the 5 star hotels look equally spectacular.

Most the key brochure hotels are very nice. Be warned though, this is the cheapest time of the year for a reason, its so flippin hot you won't be able stay outside for very long. End of june/early july your talking 45 degrees.

you could do a search for the hotel that the golfers stay in during the Dubai tourney on the European tour, it is an amazing place.

I can't say i have been inside of Dubai but the experience would probably be most frighting. If you put any money into Dubai expect to either make a fortune or lose the lot....

I think there's alot of building work going on at the moment , some of it near the 5 star hotels, so worth checking.

Jumeirah Beach Hotel .... Luxurious ... service excellent... Beds the most comfy i have ever slept in... Views over the Gulf of Persia.. and the Burj Al Arab.. one of the great hotels of the world .. Those in the know prefer the Jumeriah over the Burj as the burj is a touch snooty...and sodding pricey... Choice of great restaurants in the Jumeriah along with a free shufty round the Burj its sister hotel...they charge for oiks to usually have a gander.. and free entry to the water park that adjoins it.. It will be hot though.. Entertainment wise well theres the Gold Souk which the wife will love and then theres the shopping centres which im sure the wilfe will love... If that bores you you could always visit the..err..Gold Souk which i'm sure the.... personal opinion from a visit i made a year or two age... there is No poker available

HI laz Be aware that earlier this year the Jumeirah Beach was closed for redevelopment. I dont know if it has reopened but if it has it is the best there is, and treat yourself to the fish and chips there Any beach hotel is good, ie sheraton or hilton, but as an earlier post said it is incredibly hot there just now.
Special treat look at the Royal Mirage.
There is a lot of building work but it goes on through the night as day time is too hot.
mall of the emirates is a must visit, biggest mall outside USA, and includes the indoor ski slope.
Great shopping but save some dough for the Duty Free on the way home. Jewellery is fantastic, electronic goods overpiced.
Have a good one

Mina A'Salam is rather splendid and should be a fair bit cheaper than the Burj and Jumeirah. It's next door to the Burj so you can sit out and get fantastic views of the iconic hotel. It's still on the expensive side but there is no point trying to Dubai cheaply. I tried this by staying in a hotel on the Sheik Zayed Road and its just not the same. www.madinatjumeirah.com is Mina A'Salams website
