Rookie, i know nothing about greyhound racing...

Are these ready to race yet?  If not what age do they have to be?

Are the costs of training them and entering them in races more than you'd think?

not yet, 15/16 months... cassie is 16 months now, but had a setback. Rodney is 14 months roughly.

Rodney is the one I want to do as well as poss as Cassie is good enough for breeding anyway.

Training costs me £220 a month roughly for the pair whilst they are not racing, but that goes up when they are racing. They havent raced yet.

Gotcha. Does the trainer select which races to enter them in or yourself?

How many would they enter a year? How much is entry? (obv depending on prize structure i guss?)

Graded races run 4 times a week at oxford (this will be where they start their careers at least). Graded races are free, they are ranked... A9, A8, A7, A6, A5, A4, A3, A2 and A1. A1 being the highest and better dogs. If they are better than A1 they will run in Open Races, and be known as an Open Racer, meaning that they will travel around the country for races, which cost to enter, but there is better prize money.

Graded races generally race once a week, whereas open racers might not race for a fortnight, but trainers & trials keep them fit.
