just back from bulgaria where i found scottish and northern irish note get a lesser rate than english notes....
i wonder why?
Apparently it's because they have to send them back to Scotland and can't recycle them. Some places won't take them at all. its a damn scandal and they certainly dont entertain welsh notes

BofE withdrew all notes larger than £5 during wwII as a bid to stop the germans devaluing the curency. They have never bothered re-issuing anything more than £50 AFAIK.

not sure how much demand there would be for larger notes anyway. I rarely walk around with more than £50 in my purse.

Flushy rarely walks around with more than £50 in his purse and it didn't stop him getting robbed.

America ($100) & the UK (£50) are similar, but up here in Derbyshire, shops don't recognize the £50 note, or accept it. I had a bunch of Scottish £100 notes for a while, but only Casinos would accept them.
The biggest note in general circulatrion so far as I know is the €500, a real beauty. (Helps muggers be more productive). But it's also the world's most counterfeited note.
Notwithstanding the security issues, it would be nice to have a £250 or £500. I needed to get £4,000 from my Bank today for some business, and squeezed the wedge into my pocket, & even though it was in £50 notes, girls were asking if I was pleased to see them.

in 89 years and 6 months even electronic currency will be replaced by chips in the brain that you use to pay for your milk.

Why is the £50 note the largest? Surely its time to get some bigger notes.
I propose a pink £100 note Image of Flushy on one side, Jungle Cat on the other Should have snoopy on it somewhere, with his fushia or even salmon shade to boot

I think it's about time we got rid of the scruffy little £5 note and replaced it with a coin - it's barely 2 pints and therefore officially loose change.
