I live in a conservative constiuency myself and have for most of my life, which means my vote has been worthless almost as long as i voted (i will continue to vote its my right). My current MP is as good as gets if I have to have a tory though, i actually respect him, my MP is Ken Clarke.

under the present system it is the person that is elected that person campaigns under the manifesto of his party
Mr Davies was elected Mr Davies was elected under the auspices he was standing under the manifesto of the Tories Mr Davies has turned his back on his commitments to the people that voted for him by changing the policy he will campaign in the house for Mr Davies is right saying the people voted for me not the party Mr Davies should of triggered a by election by abandoning his campaign manifesto and adopting a new one the British electoral system has many flaws

Coming from a Tory 'stronghold' (or pretty much as much as they get in Scotland - Dumfries & Galloway) I know what you mean Adam, but the last few years have convinced me he's left Tory for Tory Light. Not too much joy for any socialist .
