He aint done much yet. The jury is still out on him I would say.

You reckon?  He's done more in 4 and a bit games than Shevchenko has managed during his time in the Premiership.  Torres certainly isn't lightweight either - he's taken to the Premiership very well and seems sooooted to it.

I think its absurd to compare him on the worst buy in history. Anyone who has had a half decent game in the last 2 years is miles above Shevchenko's form.

I have seen him in a number of his games this season and he's missed alot of chances, he bagged 2 against a very poor Derby team but he really should have had seven. I think if Crouch had played the same number of mins in the premiership this season he would have more goals.

So Yes I reckon the jury's still out.

I agree with the Crouch thing - but that's because I think that Crouch is a top-class forward (many disagree).  Interestingly, Crouch had a better goal/minute ratio that Drogba in the league last season.

The worst buy in history?  Wasn't that Veron?

Unless a striker scores EVERY chance he has someone will always say 'could do better'. If your judging him on the 5 games so far, in 4 of which he's started, I think he's looked positive, scored a quality goal against Chelsea, 2 more against an albeit weak Deby side, and fitted in well.

So yes obviously he could still end up having a poor season if things dramatically change, but on the evidence so far, money well spent considering he has 12 years left in him...

No without a doubt the worst buy ever was this guy. Maybe not as expensive as the other flops mentioned but one of the worst players ive seen .

Without doubt a quality player and probably a great signing. He is a good goalscorer and thats might just be what Liverpool need.

Will be interested to see if he will do it in the Prem as it doesnt seem to be the easiest league for the spanish to adapt too.

This is what I thought before he kicked a ball for Liverpool ad I havent changed my mind yet. He has had a decent enough start but 5 league games into the season is too early to judge but he does look promising

Vastly overrated, lightweight, looks like a guarantee shit first season IMO.

The Spanish Andy Johnson...

Certainly not lightweight.

I feel sorry for the fella. If he went to west ham he would be playing every game and banging them in. Instead he is at Sours, with a manager who doesn't want him.

The lad torres is pure and utter class, he may miss his fair share of chances but when hes needed to produce he has done all season , hes the sort of player (like henry) u can just give him the ball on the half way line  and hes capable of going all the way himself or setting someone else in .During the summer there was talk of tevez or torres and i prob would have took tevez then but at the moment nando IS THE MAN ......

P.s Worst buy ever i reckon the lump sums paid by man u for the invisible man (carrick) and hardcheese have to be up there

I duno, i could think of some more terrible purchases

Kleberson
Djemba-Djemba

And another player, if anyone remembers him

Ali Dia, or Ali Dire as he became known, will go down in history as possibly the worst ever Premiership player, but also the cheekiest. Having struggled to make a living in the lower reaches of French football, the 30 year-old Dia turned his attention across the English Channel, where, with the help of BSkyB, the roads to football stadiums had become paved with gold. Turned down by Bournemouth and Gillingham, he managed to sign semi-pro terms with non-league outfit Blyth Spartans, which was probably just about his level. However, the ambitious Dia wanted more, so armed with a cunning plan he set about making the step-up to the Premiership. And Southampton's manager Graeme Souness was on his radar... Dia pretended to have won 13 caps for Senegal (he hadn't) and that he was related to top Liberian striker George Weah (he wasn't). However, a phone call from Weah was enough to convince Souness to hand him a 30 day contract. Dia was lined up to play in a reserve game, but after it was cancelled he was thrown straight into the deep-end with a place on the bench against Leeds in November 1996. When Le Tissier was injured after half an hour there was high expectation in the crowd as the new signing, the cousin of the great George Weah, came on to a rapturous welcome. And what a debut it was - 50 spectacularly bad minutes later, the likes of which has not been since anywhere in professional football, Dia was himself substituted in front of a disbelieving Dell crowd. It later transpired that the crackly voice on the other end of the phone hadn't been the AC Milan legend Weah after all but Dia's agent. Southampton cancelled his contract, Gateshead snapped him up for some publicity, and he hasn't been seen since. Or has he ? Did anyone double-check Jean-Alain Boumsong's details ?
