Don't planes need to land prior to taking off?
A plane full of passangers needs a lot longer runway than an empty plane does to land.
But, as a general rule, they land with the same number they took off with, so far as I'm aware.
But I could not buy that "Trade Wind" notion, weather is not THAT predictable or reliable, & Flushy gave us the clue with that "glide slope" thing.
I don't think the service will prosper though. Peeps don't wanna stop
en route
. And with a 32 seat cabin configuration, it's gonna be seriously pricey.

Fuel is heavy, and it can't take off from London City with a full load.

??
It fly's into London City from Gatwick or some such with min fuel and 0 passengers it can leave with more weight as the mins for T/O are less than Landings.
Tikay trade wins are v reliable, they are generated by the movement of the earth and its relation to the sun, if they earth stopped moving then yes they would stop.

Dead right. Double the amount of ear pain for the same end result = bad value in my book.

40 minute stopover at Shannon including clearing US immigration is a definite winner and will save time in the long run. All depends on the price of seats although it won't be as cheap as Silverjet & Maxijet were it will need to be affordable in the current financial situation.

Question for Tikay/ other train enthusiasts:
Am i going crazy or have i just heard a steam train whistle? - it woke me up, but only having had 3hrs sleep i could have dreamt it!
I live near the weston-super-mare to Bristol line, and could have sworn i heard it about 5 mins ago (9:45 ish)
would be nice to know i haven't totally lost the plot!
thanks

You most likely heard correct. There are various " specials" that run around mainly on Saturdays. Not too sure where you live but it most likly to have been THE YULETIDE TORBAY EXPRESS or something similar.

It could be the Avon Valley Christmas special.
Every weekend from the Late November to Christmas Eve, Father Christmas will be on the steam train at the Avon Valley Railway. Accompanied by his helpers he will make his way along the train, stopping to talk to all the children and, providing they have been good, give them each a quality present. Parents are not neglected as everyone will also receive a delicious mince pie or festive biscuit.

It will be at least quintuple the MaxJet/Silverjet price.
32 seat Cabin Config, BA, 'nuff said.

Bitton is further north though, so was the train on it's way there? - please don't make me get up early tomorrow to watch it from the railway bridge!!
