When I read about the London Poker Circuit, the first thing that came to my mind was the Showdown Poker Tour (remember that?).

18 runners for their first tournament does nothing to dissuade me of that.

Yup!

With these things, you can't build from the top, you have to start at the bottom, establish a solid base, then move up.

I wish them well, but they have gone about it in a weird way

I qualified online for the second event this weekend, which was at a 4 star hotel near Covent Garden.
They have cut their cloth, after feedback and numbers from the first event in March, and so had a £300 event on the Friday with £1000 added and a £1000 2 day main event on the Sat/Sun.

I have to say, compared to EPT,GUKPT and a few other similar high buy in tournaments, the LPC/888 has focused on providing the best high quality event for live poker.

Locating in a quality hotel works IMO.

The hotel facilities and event management were first class, from looking after you, to high quality dealers/chips/tables....and the best buffet at a poker event by miles!

main event structure was excellent with 10k chips/1 hr blinds and the usual levels.

The only problem is numbers...they were hoping for 40+ for the main event and got 15!....and I believe it was a  similar number for the £300 the night before.

I spoke to Paul Bracken , who was obviously disappointed, and a bit mystified especially as it didn't seem to clash with another major event,....but you can see they have invested a fair amount of money into this, and are going to persevere, with it.

I wish them luck and really hope it does start to attact players.

It was for tikay... sigh.  Although saying that, I doubt he'd work out how to actually view the images as you navigate through it.

Well you missed the whole point of it as well then.  No wonder you only stayed on it for 30-odd seconds...

Evening all - remember me?

Thank you for all the texts & 'phone calls. I'm fine and dandy, thanks, but mega mega busy. Happy busy, like, but certainly busy busy. Everything just bunched up, & it's been about 12 days straight of this & that.

I've got loads of interesting (?) photos for you, & a whole load of geeky tales, but not right now, as I am due in the Studio (our new super dooper all-singing studio) in half an hour.

Tonight's Show guest is Micky Hazard, & despite recurring memory failure for important stuff, I still have an almost OCD recall of irrelevant and useless information. So without looking at the "Pack" (of info) that the AP's provide for Guests, I knew every major Team that Micky played for, off by heart - Chelsea, Portsmouth, Swindon. Hows that for recall?

I dare not even look at my PM Box, it's crammed full - sorry - I'll answer them all tomorrow.

Oh, & I have Man Flu, sigh.

I go home tomorrow, for the first time all week, am working Online tomorrow night, then on Saturday morning, I fly up to Edinburgh, where In-Poker will be covering Day Two of the inaugural British Masters Poker thingie, the GBPT "as was", sort of.

I fly home at 8am on Monday, groan. 8am!

I do hope you are all well.
