The Hillsborough, Bradford and Heysel disasters are forever imprinted on my memory.  As a Liverpool fan, Hillsborough was the saddest day, Heysel the darkest.

Bradford, yes, that disturbed me a lot.

It's best I don't comment on Hillsborough or Heysel.

You probably won't comment, but please don't group the two together.  The causes of the two were very, very different.

It's best that I pass on that.

I'll send you some reading material.  I know you like to read and know the 'truth' on these sorts of things.

Thanks, but no thank you, & I'm not being disrespectful. My mind is fairly fixed on the causes of both.

Does this mean that once you've decided on something you're not capable of changing your mind?

Are you unable to ever admit that you could ever be wrong?

I think he has.  It seems very much like an indoctrinated religious belief - and no matter what evidence or rational discussion is put forward, his opinion is already cast in stone.

Which is a shame and saddening.

Dan,

Stop goading me, please. I've stated several times why I don't want to discuss that, & several other things, & it's one reason they were not in either of my lists.

I lost a whiole bunch of friends already over 9/11, good long-standing friends, too, & I've lost more debating subjects such as Gerry Adams & Hillsborough.

I don't plan to discuss it, & if you & JonMW want to put interpretations on that, fine.

Can we move on now, please.

I'll move on then.  I wasn't goading, but you said "and I'm not being disrespectful..." and then implied something that I think is disrespectful.  Similar to when someone says "I'm not racist, but..."

Anyway, it's your thread and I'll leave it there.

In which case, I refer to my original reply - "no, & no".

Everyone's list will be age and situational dependant for the most part.  No list is right or wrong.  It's all a personal thing.  I'm glad you brought it up Tony because it gives an inisight into each of us.

A slight change of subject, but I was doing my thing over at Sky Poker tonight, playing the nightly £20 Deepie, & chanced into Convo with one of the players, who, in fact, went on to win it, in very fine style

It turned out he was the brother of a very respected blonde.

I asked him if he was half as clever, or half as witty, as his Bro.

"Twice as clever, twice as witty" he replied.

"And do you dress half as badly?" I asked.

"NOBODY dresses as bad as him" he said.

So who is the blonde?

Yup. I should never have replied to the questions as to why I omitted it.

Lesson learned.
