I forgot to mention one person at DTD - Rob "aka "Nightfly".
Rob was missing on Wednesday, & I enquired as to why. It appears he is not too well right now, but hopefully he'll be as fit as a fiddle soon enough. He must have been gutted to miss the opening week. Rob's been there a goodly while - over 2 years I think, certainly over 1 year (I recall it was about August that he started with them), & he's Mr Enthusiasm. He had the Gala Notts Cardroom really buzzing when he was there, the "Sold-Out" signs were up every night, because he's great at Customer-Care.
Get well soon Rob, DTD needs you, & so does blonde.

I was at The Broadway, in Birmingham, last night. I wanted to thank the Staff & Management for their efforts over the Virgin Weekend, & also I'd been invited down by some of the locals to play some Dealers Choice. (Which, in truth, was slightly worrying.....).
Dealers Choice is not on the menu down there, so along with Ash "realshady" Pervais, we set the thing up, & had huge fun.
Anyway, some geezer decided he wanted to play a game that he named "webber-ize". Anyone heard of it?
It's Omaha, with a non-standard Board. We played 6 card. Just the once, mind.....
It's normal Omaha, EXCEPT that the Flop is only two cards.
But the turn is TWO cards, too.
And the River is two cards.
So we have a 6 card Board.
Talk about a "nuts" game!

It's Webb-anese, a word-play on Lebanese, invented by Derek Webb ten or fifteen years back I think.
He's pretty good at inventing games, he invented the casino three-card brag game and sold it to the American casinos in a multi-million dollar deal a few years ago.

Ah, thanks Ralph, I thought you'd know the answer. I bet you could tell a story or two, too.....

An Apology to Nina, Jim & others at Luton.
Oh deary deary, woe is me.
A bunch of us, unwittingly, unintentionally & unthinkingly, caused a big problem at Luton on Friday night. I was neither wholly nor solely to blame, but as part of a collective of blokes, I shoulder my share of the blame without argument.
I'm sorry.
Nina has big shoulders & a big heart, & took it in her stride. She is a giant among Cardroom Managers, & I'm really sorry to have caused her a headache.
I went to Luton again last night, especially to say sorry to Nina, but she was not there. Instead, I was asked about the scenario by the Luton General Manager, & I told him "our" (my) version of events, & ended by saying I hope Nina never got into too much trub. He assured me it was cool. I hope so.
Anyway, here's what went off. (See my Next Post).
