Was his tie pink?

Did he cause WW3 on the dealer's choice second table?

Tikay swore at me last Monday whilst I was in the comp......the word he used has the following definition in Chambers

2. a term of contempt for someone who is considered worthless, unpleasant, despicable, etc.

He didn't even get a 10 minute penalty and it was most off putting to see him in a tie

He called you German/Welsh/Scottish/English/Irish/Italian/American*?

Strewth, where do the days go? Time seems to be flying by, & I need to get this Diary up to date.

But, to begin at the end, I eventually got back home yesterday morning, straight from the Sky Studios, after my "five in a row" series of "jobs" down in London, & I was absolutely wrecked. So, I was in bed by 3am, & slept through until 4pm. Woke up feeling shite, & promised never to play poker or talk poker or think poker again for a month. In fact, for EVER.

Began to clear the huge e-Mail backlog - ffs, there were hundreds - & I had a splitting headache, too. Sod poker, on & off the table, I've had enough, it's wearing me out. I needed to get them cleared yesterday though, as today (Thursday) I'm due in Manchester on APAT business, & then I'm off to Paris for Poker Week on Friday & Saturday, & Sunday I'm up to Manchester for Day Two of the APAT Event.

Then, at 6.15 last night, my trip to Manchester, (for today) was cancelled.

Hmm, if I rushed, I could just about make the Luton Fessie £200 Freezeout which starts at 8pm.........

Set off from home within minutes, arrived with minutes to spare, not bad either, 90 minutes door-to-door. The Comp went terrific, was out in half the time it took me to drive there, sigh.

So, may as well get straight back home & get some of these e-Mails sorted, & an early night.

As I'm about to leave, I hear "There's a seat at the £250 Dealers Choice table if you want it tikay"....

Well, that'd be just ridiculous after the week I've had, so the answer was "NO WAY".

Then again, maybe just an hour would do no harm, let the traffic die down, eh?

Well, 1 hour became a few hours, but luckily, as I'd have been there all night otherwise, the game broke. Just before 6am. Still, I was home before 8am, & I've been up over an hour already.

I'm so weak, but I will not make that mistake again, ever, I'm gonna be strong.

I get Eurostar out of Ebbesfleet at 0730 in the morning, so I'm gonna work on my e-Mails for an hour or two, pack a bag, & get an early night. Absolutely, definitely, 100%ly.

No more poker this side of Christmas, that's it, I'm overdoing it. NO MORE POKER. I need to start getting sensible, I really do.

"Bla bla bla, I'm pooped. Enjoy Prague buddy, see you soon".

"Fancy DTD tonight, it's a nice little comp?".

"You jest Thewy, NO WAY".

"Go on, you know you want to".

"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO". What part of "No" don't you understand Jules?"

"See you there at 7pm, old man"

"OK".

I'm playing a lot of Cash these days, but the diary does not allow me much chance to play Tourneys, especially the bigger & better ones. Still, cash is profitable. But I do think it's damaging my Tourney game.

Last night, in the Luton Fessie £200-er, I got into this situation at the very start of Level Two. (We began with 5k, & Level Two is 50-100, it's a 2 day-er).

A small Raise in early position, called in 2 spots, I call on the Button, & both Blinds come in.

I have the very pretty

The flop is.....

  two hearts

A Rock, in the BB, Bets out, called in two spots, I shove. I THINK I'm favourite over most hands here.

John Vacc, in the BB, insta-calls, saying " you got a set then"? Then shows

And I miss, & that was that.

I thought it was a huge call by him - he only has 1 pair, after all, & he was doing the Calling, not the shoving.

Anyway, no complaints. But the weird thing is, I checked the hand on a poker odds calculator today, & I'm only 47% to win it. I must be going senile.

My mistake, of course, was assuming he had an Overpair, in which case I would be fave.

I must concentrate.

I must concentrate.

I must concentrate.

I must concentrate.

On Monday evening, Poker Week went to the GUKPT Party in a swanky Covent Garden Nightclub, "Jewels".

Loud music, loud PA, that "hubbub" noise you hear in clubs & pubs, boorish drunks slavering & spitting all over you as they attempt to string a sentence together, I'm afraid Clubs & Parties are not my thing, never have been, never will be. I can't abide boorish drunks, & I imagine the feeling is mutual. If Poker Week paid me £10,000 per gig to attend those sort of do's every week, I'd quit instantly.

But that's not to say it was not well-organised, & a nice gesture by the GUKPT folks, because it certainly was a good "do", if you like that sort of thing.

What was especially nice was to see so many Dealers & Cardroom Managers there, they deserve a bit of respect, & it's nice that GUKPT remembered them.

The poker world & his wife were there. el blondie (albeit only for half an hour), Loird Wernick, Lord Raab, Media Celeb Dan Carter, Matt Dale, Jen, snoops, Dana, Praz, Karl & the full Team (Praz wearing the visor, of course), Dave "The Hat" Smith (in a cowboy hat!), Neil Channing, Paul Parker (on the Red Wine), Ben Vinson, Dena, ooooohhhhh, Carmel & Alastair from Luton, as well as Rhowena & Compo.

The highlight for me was interviewing Flushy, recipitent of "Worst Dressed Player of the Year".

"Never was an award more deserved" I began, followed by "are you not a little too plump for white suits?" And for once, the great man was speechless. Well almost, & we can bleep out that bit. In fact, we'll have to.

But many thanks to all at GUKPT, it was a great idea, & a fitting end to a terrific first Season by all involved.

So, we got our interviews done, & that was that, Compo insisting we went straight up to Luton for the Cash Game. I argued strongly against, but as chance would have it, my car & Hotel were both in Luton, but I told him I would go straight to the Hotel, no way would I play the Cash Game. And I was good to my word.

PS - Compo won a grand in the cash-game! I dropped £200, but had a hoot. Then it was back to the Luton Days Inn, where I'd been holed-up (at nights) for 4 days, a few hours kip, & then down to Feltham for the Sky Show. And, after that, home at last, promising never to leave home for poker again.

OK, better go, need to get to DTD, but better pack a bag first, as I gotta go straight down to Eurostar afterwards. Paris Euro-Awards here we come. And then, on Saturday, straight from Paris to Manchester, for the APAT jobbie.
