Who woulda thought the phrase 'Mantis can condense it into a one liner' would ever be used eh?
He has posted some great stuff over the last week IMO. Well done Mark,

Blonde is a great place, and it's the people who make it that. But if the people who make it such a good place stop posting or being part of the community then it will change. Going back to that pub Mantis was talking about, maybe over time the clientèle has changed as many of the old-timers stopped visiting as often, and the pub attracted a younger audience who wanted a pub that would appeal to them. The pub wants to keep the old regulars happy, but also wants to be a thriving place - so it tries to accommodate both. The old-timers aren't happy with some of the changes, and instead of voicing their opinions, they vote with their feet and don't come back as often.
The pub is then faced with a decision of whether to continue to accommodate those who are using the place now, or does it try and revert back to the place it used to be, with all the fond memories and happy times (of course, I'm sure there were some pretty bad times too, but they've been pushed to the back of the collective memory)?
As tikay mentioned, there have been horrible things happen around the blonde community in the past, but it's still here, and it's still strong. Yes, it might have changed, and some would argue not for the better. But it's up to the people who use it to make the most of it and decide what they want from it.

Which is pretty much what happened relatively recently.

Camel said.....
".....But then this Blatch scandal surfaced.
Alot of the people who have suffered are lond standing members of Blondepoker who have been here since the start and tasted the community spirit when it was at it best.
The money lost was secondary to the betrayal of trust imo. The fact noone ever checked the account and took his updates at face value without question shows what a fantastic place blonde is.
And now with this trust so totally betrayed I felt it was the perfect opportunity for Tony to say a few words (especially when I saw him reading the thread), maybe remind people that 99% of blondepoker regulars are upstanding decent people and we are there to support each other in times of trouble such as this.
The thread now has deteriated into a farce, the blondepoker way would never be violence or threats and some of these new posters stagger me with the nonsense they spout......"
How perceptive, how true.
To begin with, dodgy betting syndicates are not exactly novel, new, or unusual. I'd wager most are less than straight. So the way it turned out was very sad, but not exactly a huge surprise. There was a clue - a HUGE clue - 6 months back, in a Post, somewhere, which we almost ALL saw. We missed the clues which were littered liberally in the piece. One guy spotted them, but there was no proof.
I was only alerted to the thread by Twitter, & on clicking the tweet out of idle curiosity, I accidentally found myelf on the Blatch thread, on Friday, I think. It was about page 30 or 40. I read 10 or so pages, & nearly threw up. I wish I'd never seen it. "
Smash his face in with a cricket bat
". Do I really pay £2,500 pa to pay for that sort of puerile drivel to be Posted?" I never looked again for 36-48 hours. I opened up blonde, yesterday I think, (not the Blatch Thread, just General Popker) & there, top of the Page, was the name of the latest Member. "KILL BLATCH". I mean, FFS.
God, I hated every line of it. I have not re-visited the thread since, & I doubt I will. I used to think, & say, that Gutshot Forum & Betfair Forum were bad, & represented everything I did NOT want here. Now we've joined that elite club. Marv.
And even ignoring my prudish mind, my out-of-touchness, my antiquity, it went too far, way too far.
And now, it has got out of control, & MUCH worse. Things happened yesterday & the day before which were bad beyond belief, which no right-minded person would approve of. You cannot begin to imagine how serious this has now got. It moved on last night, in a big way, & Tighty & I are of one mind as to what happened yesterday. Money? That's the least of it now. It's far worse now.
So yes, I understand why you were "disappointed", though I misunderstood from whence you came. I'm sorry. But now you know my side of things, too.
It can only get better from here on in. Sadly, some Members have a bill to pay first.

It has nothing to do with differring views. It's tone, & style. "Fuck you" (as a typical response, & not you, or yours) does not impress.

I was asked to Post, I am, & will, but please please, keep the nonsense off my Diary.
Thanks.
Differring opinions - the more the merrier, really, bring it on. But not school playground stylee, please. Think Paxman.

stop it Tikay. 11.5 stone is taking it too far.
can't have you weighing less than me
Hope everything is OK and you have a great Vegas trip...and definitely quit smoking!
The smoking - it's a deffo. My head is almost in the right place, & that's the key, dieting, smoking, the head HAS to be in the right place, the rest is a piece of piss.
Are you now in rude health, after the op & everything?
good luck with the smoking...i actually found it a lot easier to quit than i thought i would.i wish i had the will power to diet, excess baby weight is not fun :-(
i was shocked when i noticed you at dtd the other week i wasnt even sure it was you untill i checked the list of runners, lol you must have great will power to lose that much weight on your own so im sure smoking will not be as hard as you think
again good luck fingers crossed for you
Thanks Fran. I never saw you at DTD, or would have said Hi.
Honestly, I feel 20 years younger, I'm in much better condition now, all things considred. Suddenly, it matters to me to be able to hang around a while longer.
I hope all is well with Team Fran. I saw your Dad last week, but never got chance to chat. How well does HE look for his age?

I've just spent about 6 hours trying to explain why I never read the Thread, so no, I'm sorry, but I never saw them, & I want to move on. I think it's time everyone (me included) started mending things, & tit-for-tat does not mend much.
Put it aside, move on, there no good purpose served by keep going back.
Please don't put words in my mouth, either.
Thanks.

If everyone was just a little bit nicer when on blonde then blonde as a whole would become a lot nicer.
