Sigh at Mere's Oasis jibe.
I might have included U2, were it not for Mr Bloody Bono being so damn pretentious & precious, almost Sting-like, (which is the pretentious yardstick) poking his frigging nose into things he does not understand, "ooh, Mr Mandela, I lurve you, peace". Bugger off Bono, right up your own arse.
I actually enjoy their early music very much indeed, up to & including Rattle & Hum, & Joshua Tree. But then he decided to be the moral guardian of Planet Earth on oir behalf. Along with Sting, of course.
And don't even THINK of mentioning Brian Tossing May to me, please.
PS - Good evening, Mr Gough. I've come here for a break from the TSP grief! FFS......
+1 Bono is a total nob..............
He may well be a total nob but we can separate the music from the personality, can't we?
If we can praise Eminem then we can find a little love for U2, surely?

But let's not try that tack on Morrisey, eh?

So, when I stated that the first five U2 albums bear comparison with those of any other artists, you basically agree with me?
It looks like it's safe enough Tom, you can come out from under the chair.
Let's not mention poker.
No, let's not.
Or churlish, moaning, whining, jealous, poker players. One has had one's fill of those today.
Did you read about the kid next door - GaryQQQ - who walked all the way from John O'Groats to Lands End, for charity, & never once moaned about the weather, his blisters, his anything? My hero, him.
It's amazing the lengths some people will go to in order to be sure that they've left Scotland.
He could have just caught a train
up
to London.

I went to the official Launch Party of The Fox Club tonight.
Very nice Club, & I'm sure it will go well.
It's not suited to me - location & Clientele are not my ideal, & I never realised quite how strong the PKR involvement was, but it will be successful, good luck them.
It has a low ceiling, & not much soft furnishing, so the acoustics are extremely harsh, it's very "loud", & alcohol abuse looks to be the norm, with bottles all over the floor being kicked over. It's a sort of up-market Gutshot really.
But well furnished, good quality tables, excellent branded chips, really top quality, superb dealing standard, good TD's (mostly ex DTD!), & a nice warm atmo.
Joe Beevers invited me, & was the perfect Gent. Barney was there too, as was Neil Channing, Anne Lamond, Warren Wooldridge, Simon Galloway, Lisa-Marie Long, James Hartigan, Mrs Skalie, Bev & Norman, Shelley Rubenstein, the perfectly mannered Ashley Hames, the adorable Catman & his pleasing wife, Mrs Catman, & many many more. I never saw James Sudworth, but I may have missed him, & nobody threatened to chin me.
A little too noisy for me, & I was pleased to sneak away early, but I'm an oddbod, & I wish them every success.
Well worth a visit if you live in that part of the world.

Have a butchers at this, & learn a whole new language. The Standard Model.
Up, Down, Strange, Charm, Muon, Lepton, Electron, Neutrino, Tau, Gluon, Photon, Fermions, Quarks, (many of which can, apparently, be "left-handed"), & Lagrangian, the formula for which is...... oh wait, read it yourselves.
In the morning, I shall ask Jeeves to explain it all.

At one point, in "Collider", they explain how simple it is.
"We inject some protons into the LHC".
How? What? In a teaspoon? In a compound? Do they shovel a wheelbarrow load in?
How do you find, & isolate, & inject something like that? Where do they find the proton? Is it in a packet?
You know, I have a tinsy winsy suspicion that it's all the Emporors suit of clothes. It's as intriguingly baffling as Baseball stats.
